There was a pretty cheap VF30 for sale on WRXatl last week.
When you're looking at VF39s, dont worry about the cracked ones, see if you can work a deal but they are ALL cracked and nobody knows about it until they actually remove the turbo.

You're probably not going to have any lag at all running a turbo that small on a 2.5, should have torque like a diesel truck.

VF30 is older than a VF34 is older than a VF39.
VF30/34 are the exact same except the VF34s are ball bearing which makes them tend to fail easier. I'm pretty sure the VF39 is right around the same size. VF22 is slightly bigger, VF29 is slightly smaller than the VF30/34
