No person may intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly sell or furnish a pistol or revolver to a minor (person under the age of 18 years; see § 16-11-101.1(a)(1)). Section 16-11-101.1(b). However, a parent or legal guardian may permit possession of a pistol or revolver by a minor for the purposes specified in section 16-11-132(c) (see the Georgia Minimum Age to Purchase/Possess section), unless otherwise expressly limited by section 16-11-101.1(c). Georgia prohibits the purchase or sale of a firearm by a person who knows that the manufacturer’s serial number or other distinguishing number or identification mark has been removed for the purpose of concealing or destroying the identity of the firearm. Section 16-9-70.
