Now those guys will probably let the insurgents kill more GIs.... People need to think before they do stupid stuff like that. How are you going to teach them about due process if you don't follow it yourself. If the GIs had done that to someone in the US, they would be locked up for destroying private property. These guys aren't cops and the people have not been presented to a court to have a chance to defend themselves.
