that's true the STOCK Sti and STOCK R34 are very comparible in a straight line race. Virtually same power / weight ratios, however the R34 is a great deal more exspensive because it has so much more potential. The Sti needs some pretty hefty work to make 400+ the R34 needs very little. you have to understand the R34 is set at a certain power limit becuase of freindly agreements between japanese sports car makers.
The STI needs almost exactly the same work that the R34 needs to make 400hp,
You can make 400hp in an sti with just a turbo and fuel injectors and ecu.
And a 400hp Sti is a lot faster than a 400hp R34

Ok, so even IF the R34 can make 400whp on the stock turbos and injectors and just needs a tune, those extra parts on an STI still make it the cheaper car for the same speed.
And before the argument even comes up about the R34 handing the STI its ass, the STI Spec C set the fastest lap time at Nurburgring on street tires of any Japanese car.

No one has said the Skyline is the greatest car ever, in fact all have admitted that it is over priced, I even said a little overrated, we're just saying that it is an awesome machine. Still being that this vehicle was produced in more than 6 years ago. Technology and engineering has imporved so much since then.
When the 08 models ofr the R35 and the Sti we'll see what they both do.

What was Subaru doing in 2000? Being bitches by holding the WRX and STI out of the US market. I'm pretty sure that was back when their rally program was successful.
People in Australia have been building Subarus that run 9sec 1/4 miles (for those of you that live your life 1/4 mile at a time) for the last decade. I dont know the stock block records for WRXs but if you are going for all out stock block records the RB26 isnt even that great compared to the 2JZ.

What will the msrp be on the 08' gtr?? From what i've read is will be like 60-70k. Going by current subi prices, I'm guessing that a 08 sti will not cost more that $35-$40k. That leaves me at least 20k dollars to mod my sti. also, I believe that subaru has a turbo h6 sti running around, that is rumored to have ~400 hp.
I'm not jumping on the sti bandwagon, but comparing the skyline and sti lopsided. Comparing it to a car more in its class, like the z06, is better.
