Stock STI vs Stock R34 GTR!!

you guys keep talking about sti having hp numbers whern they really don't. Yes walk into a dealership and whatever and you see 300hp 300tq. Go to the dyno and you get slapped. I've seen stock gtr dyno and stock sti dyno and theirs a huge difference. You really can;t compare the sti to the gtr on a staight line because sti are not made for that. Gtr also have a lot better power band and gearing for top end and dirivng in a str8 line. Sti have a small turbo that give out around 6k rpm while the gtr keep going. im not trying to take side because i love both cars but you really can;t comapre the car like that without even taking into consideration that whos the better driver in this situation. Im sure theres ton of video that slowwrx can pull up of the gtr gettin its ass smack around on the track by a evo and sti. oh nice video by the way

just kidding guys, i actually love both cars, i have driven an R33 and loved it, i own a 04 STi and i love it, best car for the money is the STi hands down, i dont know what moron said it'd be hard to get an STi to make over 400whp lol. anyway, an SRT4 vs. a Acura Integra Type R is a better car for the money, however.. i'd take the integra any day over an SRT4, other things come into play other than speed.. handling (in which case both the STi and GT-R are still very close), interior quality, over all build.. where the Type R would come out on top.

i'd consider getting an R33 (cause its cheaper) if the Rb26's internals could match the 2jz's bottom end.... *sigh*

btw. have you guys seen that RUF built STi? the STi type 25?... omg that thing is awesome.

:werd: I like both the R34 and the STi (prior to the fugly Alfa Romeo front). All I see in this thread, is a bunch of street weenies with their panties in a wad because the R34 is praised so high. So they call it a POS and degrade it in any way possible just in spite of the cars fanbase and to boost their own self-esteem because they're not "joining the bandwagon".

sti wins because of hp limit laws in japan.... an exhuast alone will pik up 50+ whp on a mustang dyno for the r34.... exhuast, K&N drop ins, and a tune will put a rb26 EASYLY over 400whp.... 430 area on a mustang dyno....


stock for stock the 34s suspention and awd system is in a whole new class.... also the aero of the 34 crushes the sti's lak of real downforce...


you wont see any stok long block sti in the 550awhp area on strate pump gas.... a 34 will be there pretty easily..... also the sti trany is junk compaired to the 34s G-reg......



skyline is a real sports car..... porsche ferrari killer...... STi is a fun car....

I witnessed a moderately modded Evo get beat by an R33 GTR with a catback. Well..they were even pretty much in my opinion...but an R34 with Catback and slight tune would beat an STi with catback and slight tune

i had a modded sti at one time... it was slow... the gears are to short for it to be fast.. even with 500awhp... u just hafta shift gears to much....

a skylines 3rd gear wraps out to 101mph.... so u just sit back and let it eat mph..

Why do people keep calling the Skyline a peice of shit. Its a pretty reliable car, even when modded and beat to shit. Go power shift a modded STi with a stock trans and see how many times that happens.

To get the same numbers out of a car with less cylinders, you have to pour on more boost. And you have an engine that wont last as long.

Also you can call me a redneck or hick but Im not 100% impressed by any car that does not do 4s in the quarter like a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car.

If I had the money I would drive an STi because they are fast, fun and practicle. Also the 2.5 as opposed to the 2.0 in the evo is easier to dive on the street because of more low end torque.

06 STI Aerodynamics
Last time I read any aerodynamic information regarding the R34 it had the same aerodynamics of an 02 STI. Identical drag coefficients and almost identical frontal area.

Also, please let me know of people blowing up the STI 6speeds. One of my buds routinely flatfoot shifted his while pushing almost 450whp and he snapped an axle, thats it. Tell me why Group N rally cars that have the option of using sequential manuals choose instead to run the stock 6speed, oh yeah its because it lasted longer and took more abuse.

i went 1:22.7 with intake, catback, springs, sways..... stock wheels and tires..


i went 1:22.2 on my 18s with nice dunlop tires......



i never got a time with my 20G. FMIC. big maf, turbo inlet tube, cusco ZEro 2R's...


with new pavement it would hafta be in the 19s.... but i have sold that car...


i expect the new car to do 18s on normal street tires.....

uhh... have you ever looked underneeth a r34?,,,,, the 5 foot carbon fiber rear difuser.. the adjustable rear wing... the entire front underneeth of car is flat and smooth... with chambers giving a tunnel effect... peices directing air to breaks... and other areas.... its SICK.... sti doenst compair.. at all...

i had problems with my sti tranny........ you have to admit a G-reg is a better tranny... one of the best out there.. period.... i will agree sti is stong.. but its not G-reg

greg is a supra tranny too isnt it?
