So i have a buddy that i work with that has been talking crap about my car and how slow it is (hes only seen it parked) so he went out and got a 78 trans am that had a bad motor..So he took it to the shop and they put a engine in it.Its a 305 V8 with 220hp i think and the car weighed in at 3,850 lb BUT he still tells me he will rape me...We set it up to go to the track in about amonth to see what car is better...LOL this guy is old school and because his car is louder he thinks its faster and he calls my car RICE.........So i made this video for him....i will keep you guys posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WshSN...layer_embedded

lexus doesnt look that fast. but i understand where you're coming from about these rednecks and their "muscle cars". I've seen a lot of old timers talk like their stock iroc z was the fastest car on the planet.

Yeah i was talking to a neighbor the other day with a bone stock rusty pos el camino. He kept talking about how fast it was and beating kids in hondas. Was trying to pick his brain and he really didn't seem to know shit about modding cars.

I said, "believe it or not that supra over there is actually pretty quick" and he brushed me off like i drove a golf cart.

Sure there is "no replacement for displacement", but it is a different matter in how efficiently you use the displacement you have.

Before the days of turbos being cheap and readily available, the "my motor is bigger than yours and therefor must be faster" assumption was probably a lot more valid than it is today.

I do admit though, I'm a domestic guy and I've heard plenty of the folks like Sinfix mentioned.

BTW in that video is was only about 40% throttle because if lack of grip..
