Default Forged Performance Time Attack GT-R: NASA TTU 1st place Road Atlanta

We had another great weekend, and thanks to DerekFSU for letting us test out the Hoosier R100 slicks. This is a very fast tire and we ran a 1:28
Halfway through the vid, it switches to rear view so you can check out the Aeromotions wing in action!

    Enjoy guys!

Just a second away from the TTU track record. Maybe next time.

Reese Cox from MTI with his C6 Z06. It's fun racing against other shop owners.

Nice video, but I was just wondering.......... Any reason why he took that line on turn 7? (you can PM the answer if needed)

7 is texbook: slow in, fast out.
Pretty much do all the braking first, rotate the car, hit the apex and point the car straight as fast as possible to put all the power to the ground, other wise you end up powering over b4/at track out.

What do you see him doing? Fast in and fast out. lol

Although I see what you may be getting at there may be more speed in it with a hair of a different line.

Here it is what I see, that you don't:

Coming out of 6 he doesn't let the car set it self all the way to the outside to take 7.
    he turns early for 7
goes over the chicane at apex
then he has to modulate throttle and fight for traction
he goes over the chicane at track out, that causes the car to oversteer....

In 7 the fastest you point the car straight the longer you will be WOT... Although I have to add that driving a E36 M3 with 250whp (a momentum car) is less challenging that driving a 500whp car like the GT-R or my M3. Lines will change base on brakes and tire managing, and others like drag & aero.

That's why I wonder why he took that line, maybe there is a rhythm and a reason for it.

Ok well I've driven there tons of times and work seven almost any event, most RACERS do hit the CURBS not "chicanes" on both the apex and DEFIANTLY on the exit. Yes even in cars faster than anyone posting in here. You want to take seven as fast as you possibly can, oversteer scrubs speed and so does understeer obviously so you have to find that perfect sweet spot. Using all of the track including the curbs also gives more room to build more speed. If you're entirely slow into seven but get on the throttle smoother at the exit and have the car straight why would you be faster than a driver who entered seven pretty quick, used all the track, kept a higher speed on the exit than you, and was on the throttle the same time?

Like I said I do KNOW what you're saying, he is turning in very early for 7 and is barely setting the car up BUT we're not driving it and we don't know how it reacts.

How many times have you driven the track out of curiosity?

Good luck getting the record. haha

From watching the video the car has a lot more in it. There is lots of time out there. Just needs more seat time...

All I see is not enough balls. The car drives itself. Just be more aggressive.

Note how Leh drives in 7, he's turning in later but still clipping both curbs, that shouldn't be a concern. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wkTuLjkY70

hahaha i was about to post Leh too. Rafa, not to much room to talk judging from how slow your car was at road atlanta. I went that fast in my NA 325is...
