the reason he crashed was because he tapped the wall with the rear end and it killed his drift, then thried to keep the run going and thats where he messed up.
and there is a saying in racing "you dont race what you cant afford to push off a cliff"
and im sure he can push vipers off cliffs all day long.

at 43 seconds into the in car vid he CLEARLY taps the wall with his left rear.
if not, then someone tell me why the camera shook and the car snaped back.
