    Default 2006 MITSUBISHI EVO 9 RS - 500WHP / GT3076R!!!!!!!!!

2006 Mitsubishi Evolution RS – Weightless White $28,900 Firm

I've decided to build an IT car to race in the SE SCCA Region. This year I was the 2006 SCCA Time Trials Champion / Street Mod. The IT Road Racing class is the next rung on the ladder for me. To do so, I need to build a gen1 RX7, and buy a trailer, AND a Truck to pull it with. Regrettably, that means selling my EVO 9. Racing stinks when you don’t have a sponsor!

This EVO has been my labor of love for the past year. I wanted to build a very quick EVO - that's an excellent daily driver. I bought the car in Atlanta in Oct 2005 (wrapped in the plastic - no prior test drives) and have proceeded to make it into a great street car.

The stock turbo was replaced with an excellently sized Garrett GT3076R ball bearing turbo from ATP. Special porting was done to the turbine housing to maximize spool response. The cams were replaced with prototype GSC 280 units designed for the MIVEC. Fuel supply was upgraded with a Walboro 255lpr pump and Denso 720cc injectors. On the intake side, the I/C piping has been upgraded (turbo to TB) with a fully adj Forge BOV. Exhaust is managed by a Tial WG and a full 3" stainless system.

The engine management was handled by Doug @ Topspeed via an ECUTek and ECUFlash combo. In street trim with 93oct @ 23psi and a very conservative tune, the engine yielded 416whp / 341wtq. With a mix of 4gallons C16 @ 26psi, the power jumped to 486whp / 411wtq. The torque curve is extremely flat and makes for an excellent road car.

The suspension was vastly improved with a set of Tein Flex c/o's, camber plates and a rear adj sway bar by ST. The alignment was performed by Ferrari of Atlanta's race shop - America's Best.

Brakes include brake ducting and aluminum hats by Forge and SRF brake fluid. Wheels are gorgeous 18x9.5 P45Rs with Falken Azenis 615s (fenders rolled).

Electronics for the driver are a trio of DEFI gauges (Boost, Oil Temp and EGT). The Tial WG is controlled by a Greddy Profec B. The shifter was improved a B&M shifter, brass bushings and ES shifter mounts.

I kept every receipt/document for every part - and that will go to the buyer. The car now makes 486whp at 26psi. Below are the specs -

    CONDITION:
    - No accidents
    - Excellent Interior / Exterior
    - 12,400 Miles
    - $28,900 Firm

IT racing is a big step, we have a 73 RX3 that is in ITA. i have not had time to get my IT liscens but its season is filled with being competitive in CSP autox and time trials as well as hill climbs.

once your car is built it all gets fun.

i am looking for a IT7 car with some damage, or just abandoned project.

    nice evo bump!

Thanks for all the props. This EVO is one hell of a machine - with about 600hp - it's crazy fast!!

The car currently holds 4 track records - Crow Mountain Hillclimb (120.133), Nashville Superspeedway (107.701), VIR-South Course (77.425), Roebling Road (79.221).

The winning VIR lap video can be seen below. Bear in mind, this is also a very, very streetable car.

    Enjoy!

I have to buy a truck, a car trailer and an IT-ready RX7 - so I can run in the SCCA Improved Touring Class in '07. That means, selling my EVO9 to support my racing habit.

It's an awful habit when you don't have a sponsor AND have a girlfriend!!

I dont want to sell my 11sec car - but I have no choice if I want to race.

Just for the record, I would trade my skyline plus cash in a heartbeat for this car. But I know that you are trying to get cash to build your IT car and get a truck/trailer. Good luck with the sale. If things don't work out with the sale, and you decide to accept trades. PM me if you're interested in my R33, its tagged, titled, 100% street legal with supporting/matching paper work. And its registered as a skyline, not a 240 like most people do it

Current Toy: A few classics, maybe a few imports too. Whatever

Actually I'm putting it up forsale as soon as it gets out of paint. Its having the GT-R rear conversion done (wider rear 1/4 panels) and getting painted pearl white. I'll probably ask $24k for it when it gets done

Well, as I said, the car is due in for paint very soon. The gt-r rear quarter panels are coming in this week and will have to be molded for paint. If you would like, we can schedule a meet and greet, I'll let you take it for a drive, show you all the paper work/title/etc so you can see that its registered and legit. Then once it comes out of paint we can dicuss whether you decided to trade your evo. Plus with the skyline being a GTS-T its rwd so could easily be built for roadracing. They handle like a dream as is with stock suspension. I bought the skyline as a project car, but I blew the engine in my srt4 (which was my daily driver) so now I'm stuck selling the skyline so I can buy a daily driver and fix the srt4 or trading it for a temporary daily driver. The car runs great, has a brand new unsprung 6-puck clutch (400miles on it). Bride racing seats w/ harness, front mount conversion w/ NX intercooler spray kit (needs a new steel braided hose, have never sprayed it because I haven't had a hose for it). 5Zigen 3" exhuast w/ test pipe. Other than that the car is pretty much stock. Anyways, let me know with a PM or phone call (678-387-8163) if you have any questions or want to come check the car out.

Wicked.. I couldn't have said it better. Thanks for the major props!

Keeb - It's so damn tempting. Problem with SCCA is there is no place for Skylines in Improved Touring racing. The car just isnt classed - which makes it illegal. And IT racing strickly forbids any internal engine work, larger turbo, NOS, etc. SUKS!

Ah I see, But then again thats pretty much fair since its more about the driver not the car. Oh well, the offer stands incase you change your mind. The car should be painted within 2-3 weeks. Good luck with the sale bro

I know that 3! You ran a Nashville, yes?

I may run some TT events along with the IT schedule. I havent considered Crow. I ran the inagural in my 03 EVO - and set the SM record of 120sec - but the lack of track time turned me off to running it again.

It is a sad day when we have to sell our EVO's. Smokin's EVO is one badass machine. I've seen it drive 4 hours to a track event, rock the shorts off a fully prepped vette and drive 4 hours home with the a/c on. Someone's getting a hardcore ass kicker with this ride.

Yep - I set a track record of 1:07 for Street Mod.

2 seconds quicker than Melton's Record in his 700hp Corvette with 335 series hoosiers - on all 4 wheels. My EVO was hauling a$$!!
