headgasket is like $20 - all you need is a torquewrench and some sockets

i'm wondering why you think your headgasket is blown? and if you've compression/leak down tested it to be sure (even isolate the cylinder),but WHY did it blow? did the car overheat? does it have coolant leaks? thermostat, fan inop, radiator cracked? i'm not trying to down grade your car $2000 as it sits is reasonable and someone would be getting a cool car for that, i'd just like more info please.

^^ well all 86s are notorious for running pretty warm, like starquests, one of the sought after upgrades is better cooling, and even then you still run warm. I do agree with you, doesn't hurt to run off a compression check - I'll even help him out with trying to isolate the cause and reason

Kyle, I would trade you for your Conquest but I know I'd probably turn into a turbo junkie if I get it. I'm looking for a decent daily driver until I can start messing with cars again.
I'm gonna need some more info before I make a decision, such as mileage, clean title, 5 spd, and etc. I'll think about it.

Headgasket was blown because the coolant going into the radiator was clogged and eventually leaking while driving on 85-S. The car started to overheat and I had to pull over. We eventually got it running again by putting water into the radiator and coolant tank and some oil in the engine. I haven't gotten a compression test done yet, but I'm pretty sure it's the headgasket.

i really like how you responded to wazimba's question. HONEST and as thorough as possible. these are one of the easiest cars to work on, any father & son team or any teenager with a set of autozone wrenches and a haynes manual should have NO problem whatsoever fixing this car in less than a day. it will be hard to find another car like this Super Dave...in my opionion unless someone offers you $2500 cash in hand as it sits, you should bite the bullet and just fix your baby (if nothing else for sentimental value). I wouldn't let this car get into the hands of a ricer who'll slap apc stickers all over it and paint it booger yellow with neon green fast and furious style tribals LMAO. To let such an atrocity take place would be worse than cutting off a testicle.....just picture your car with euro tail lights! (> '' )>

Yeah I know, but the people who have inquired about my car (for what I know), aren't really the type of people to "rice" out the AE86.
But I'm trying to be reasonable and for what I invested in the car it's worth every penny. I tried getting as many TRD and OEM replacement parts as possible.
At first I was looking for about $2500 but I didn't know if anybody would be willing to pay that with a blown headgasket.
I just need a more reliable daily driver for now and I don't have time to fix this car due to a new career opportunity.
