The car has 128k original miles on the body and motor. It was purchased at 120k in stock form and I did some upgrades.

GOOD:
The car drives great
The compression is at 123-125 psi on all four cylinders
The car dont smoke at idle,so rings are still in good shape
Big 16g turbo with 2k when rebuilt with little shaft pay and no smoke
ceramic coated o2 housing and ported
cd player
b & m shifter
auto meter boost gauge
2g mass and hard intake with kn filter
3 inch down pipe
2.5 inch cat back exhaust
tranny shifts good for a 1st gen
excedy stage 1 clutch with 9k on it
dual piston calipers in front
new pads and rotors
new spark plug wires
new battery
new altenator
new tie rod
new metal radiator

Problems:
small oil leak from oil pan seal
torn drivers front seat
door dings small
fades paint on spoiler
2 bolt missing from exhaust manifold
rims need to be painted or polished

Some guys have ran high 12s on gadsm.org with a stock 14b turbo, race gas, boost controller, 3inch exhaust. Dont doubt the 1st gen dsm awd.

awdslim on gadsm.org ran 13.0 at 105 with stock turbo,stock piping,stock intercooler. 22 psi on c-16 with a big 16g turbo'3inch exhaust,safc tuned= high 12s

Well, not a big deal, you just weren't correct with your statement...that's all.

13.0 isn't high 12's, its the lowest 13 you can get.. and I'm guessing that was the best he ever ran.

Tuning costs money, plus you said your car has a 2.5'' exhaust, plus who knows wether this particualr car can handle 22 psi... lets hope so... but every car is different.

14B's are easily capable of low 12's, even mid to high 11's. It's well documented on any DSM forum.

If there is no boost leak. If car runs right spool good and everything with C-16 that car should be able to hit high 12's (but consider there are 2 missing bolts on the exhaust manifold there will prolly be some leaking of the exhaust)

I'm completely familiar with them... hence my point was NEVER that it couldn't, it just cant with just c-16.

Haha good job telling the only 4 sale mod that is helpful to stay out of a post that isnt yours. I drive a honda I have came to terms that its slow, You drive a DSM its not the best engineered car. You DSM guys take offense to anyone giving positive criticism. But go ahead put c16 in the car build a manual boost controller and turn it all the way up. Besides more boost always means better power right?

Thanks... that's all I'm saying. This car can be totally cable of tens if prepared right...

But by those pictures, it looks like one of the studs is broken off of the block on the exhaust manifold. I could certainly be corrected as that particular whole may be for a bolt, but all the others have nuts, leading me to believe a stud came out of there.

I just don't think with his current set up, un-tuned mind you, that Joe Schmoe could just jump in and hit 12's all day long. Period.

I never said it wasn't a good platform or a good price... I'm just clarifying because we have to do that as mods since you also have kids on here with a GSR swap saying they can run EVO's and smoke them all and crap like that.

And......this car as it sits with a butt tune on the street with race gas could hit a high 12 at maybe 100-105 mph.

Have you guys never gone to a track? A stock 1g awd with a boost controller, exhaust, an SAFC and race gas can do it. Consistently.

He;s not saying you can put race gas in and turn the boost all the way up. But you can adjust boost conservatively and be fine as long as you are not knocking.


As far as a DSM not being well engineered, don't buy into the stereotype.

haha I know dsms I have a friend that is all about dsms and he has had 3 of them. I am the one always working on them when they break. I know because I have been through a 4g63. I'm not saying that they are not a good way to go fast cheap, they are. I just don't think a boost controller, an untuned safc, and a 16g are going to make this car run 12's. I guess you are on the defend dsm team also though.

hell yeah no one ever believes me when i tell them what AWD 1G's are capable of... if i didn't get a starion, you best bet i woulda had a AWD 1g or a Z31 turbo (lol but more for pimpness than speed)
... just really hard to find one in good condition now a days.... And as for this one, its decently priced....

I ran a 8.7 in the 8th at dallas when the car was stock with 3inch down pipe , 2.5 inch exhaust, safc barely tuned. The car made 225 whp. on c-16. I had a stock clutch which wasn't holding well and pulled a 1.8 60ft. A good clutch on 1st gen can pull 1.6 60ft. I used a vaccum tee to controll boost. So a dsm owner knows the possiblites of this car.
