Im looking to sell in order to make room for my new toy. Over $25k invested over the past 5 years. The car made 340 whp/402 wtq on a mild pump gas tune. The car has the turbo and fuel setup for +/- 450 whp if someone were to wish to build it further.
The car ran a best ET of 12.6 with a best mph of 112 WITH the OLD SETUP (smaller turbo, stock MAF computer.) Although I never dyno'd it with that setup, I suspect the car was making around 250 whp at the time. Race weight is 2370#. Needless to say, the car is substantially quicker now, although it hasnt been to the track it its current tune.
As you might notice from the VIN, this car is SN 938, making it one of the first Z cars ever imported to the US. Obviously, it is a very rare find.
The body and chassis are quite rust-free with the only apparent rust being on the outside lower rocker panels and at the gas filler. As anyone with experience with old Z's knows, this is not uncommon and is easily corrected. There is no structural rust, or issues on the "common" Z rust areas (hatch, battery box, subframe rails.) The car was in storage for probably 15 years, which attributes to this. Overall, a very sold, non-restored 240.
The car has a very streetable tune and runs virtually flawlessly in all conditions, partially attributed to the stock cam. The transmission shifts very positively, the brakes are strong and the car trackes extremely well, with no vibrations, driveline slack or any other annoyances. A lot of money went into getting it this way, with a lot of custom modifications.
The interior is in very good condition. The car has custom seats, but the interior trim and dash are original and very nice. The fan and heater work excellently. The car has a sony CD player, although I have the fuse removed and I havent used it years. It worked before I removed the fuse. The center console had to be modified to fit the Pro 5.0 shifter (but anyone who has used one knows its worth it.) Other than that, the interior is quite stock appearing and in good condition.
I am not going to say the car is flawless, because it is an un-restored street-driver and has been an ongoing project car for years. It could use a good detail job also, but its my project car and I dont spend a lot of time on that type of thing.
The only weak link in the car is the stock bottom-end. The motor has high miles on it, and it does use some oil. It occasionally smokes mildly at idle and under full throttle, but normal driving is not an issue. It still makes the same amount of power, but its definately in-need of a freshening-up (I suspect worn piston rings.) If you are familiar with the L series engines, you know this is not an expensive proposition. If I keep the car much longer, I will end-up addressing it, but I would rather sell it.
As many people on the boards have found out, the car still runs very well, even with the aforementioned high-mileage bottom-end.
Ive been debating on what to ask for the car, given there are no real comparables for it. Given the fact that the engine needs a rebuild (although it still runs very well,) I am looking to get $9k for it. I might be negotiable on this to a small extent, but it would cost twice that to recreate the car. The Tec3 setup in the car costs $3k alone. With a fresh motor, I expect it would bring more, and ill raise the price if I do end-up building the motor.
I do not have time to deal with tire-kickers, so please dont waste your or my time if you just want to see, ride-in or drive a fast 240z. There will be no joyrides unless someone has serious interest and available funds. I hate to be a jerky about this, but I have sold a lot of fast imports and I know the deal all to well.
Contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I do have more pics, but once again please dont ask if you arent serious. I travel a lot for work, so if I dont respond immediately, I will as soon as possible.
    Thanks for the interest.

    For real. Great car.

But, the bad news. You need to post more pics. Not just wait for someone to ask. Later, QD.

I had decided to keep it for a while, since I wasnt getting the offers I hoped for. But, I bought yet another car yesterday, so now I have way too many vehicles again. Im looking to negotiate.

For those interested, the car needs:
    - at least one rear strut needs replaced, probably best to do both
    - current organic clutch disk is loosing some bite. Its got a HD pressure plate, but the disk may be wearing or glazing. It doesnt slip once engaged, but it doesnt bite like it should out of the hole. I have a brand-new ACT copper-ceramic disk that will go with it, if someone wants such a beast in there.
    - The bottom-end in the car is bone-stock (from another vehicle though,) and its never been rebuilt. The car makes good power and runs great, but the rings could probably use to be replaced. Compression test was good on all cylinders the last time it was tuned, but I think its about time. Unless you wanted to do a full rebuild with a block prep, it could be done with the engine in the car even. None of this is a requirement, but in the interest of disclosure, I figured Id bring it up here.

Anyway, in the interest of moving along, I would let it go for $8000 at this point. If you have serious interest, let me know. My tec3 setup in the car is worth $3000 alone.
