Nobody answered init2winit's whole post of calling folks out. You don't hear me bringing that up every 20 minutes, do you?
Thacker's car is sitting in my garage, and it's not ready.. he still has to plumb the direct port and install the 1 gallon fuel cell.

this thread is a fuckin joke.
wow. we really need to screen the domestic owners before we let them on here. we should have a white trash detector. it could go:
1. do you fuck your sister?
2. is the v8 engine best?
3. does def leppard suck?
if they answer yes, yes, and no, we do not allow them to join.
stop the cock riding and race dammit.
When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things.
haha its funny when everyone talks about money and betting like its nothing but once the racing starts everyone has problems scraping up $50
Am i the only one that thinks its kind of silly to race for $$ from a roll? too many variables vs racing from a fixed point A to B as in a dig race?
as far as the 2 cars go they seem evenly matched though it depends on what the Evo comes out on as far as boost..pump vs race/meth and what tires? High hp RWD better have some badass tires to hook on cold roads even from a roll though marcins car seems to hook decent.
I say just run for fun and shake hands later and avoid all the drama.

most domestic guys bring alot of drama.
IE: Crafty.. sorry man but you did, Thacker, LT1ultraz, and several others i cant think of
distortion, init2winit does digs.. your boy LT1 say's he'll do rolls for $$, well.. so will lightspeed. and apparently marcin says he already accepted.. well, lightspeed told me he hadn't said anything back yet.. who knows.
thacker is just an idiot kid, who thinks just cause he's tall and overweight he scares people.. hey man, im tall and overweight as well.. when i was in 8th grade i thought i was scary.. but hey man that was in the 8th grade, your redneck chin hair patch and your fat arms arent going to scare anyone, i figured you'd learn to watch how you go about things when nyteryder told you to shut your cock hole in person and let shit go.. well you apparently havent, it just sucks that you dont take advice and its going to have to be the hard way for you.

I don't know how things work in your world.. but I don't own Marcin or Thacker's car.. I can't make them race anybody. In fact, I've only met marcin like once or twice..
Thing is.. if a car that comes on here has the ability to beat another car.. ie. if x car traps 140, and the other traps 130.. I'll likely bet on 140. Unfortunately marcin has an extremely mild and heavy car.. it doesn't run 7's 8's or 9's like many forced induction v8's. I suppose it could probably run 9's if it hooked, but he doesn't seem to care about hooking.
Not all domestic guys bring drama.. Just thacker
The fact is.. v8 lovers like v8's.. because it's 2 4 cylinders put together in a v..
It's like this.. you can have 1 naked chick, sitting next to you, wanting to get to it.
Or you can have 2 naked chicks, sitting next to you, wanting to get to it.
I guess my answer is obvious.. 2 chicks at the same time man.. I always wanted to do that.
So sure.. an evo can be fast.. or a supra.. or whatever.. but the fact of the matter is.. you build a 1000-1100hp big block drag motor, and you can run 8's on motor in a 3000lb car on motor no prob. Several big blocks from shafiroff come with a 2 year unlimited milage warranty.. makes for a pretty reliable 8 sec car.. a 9" w/ a th400 or powerglide.. means you can get hundreds of 8 sec passes consistantly.
You build a forced induction v8.. and you can run less boost, make more power on pump gas, spool the turbo faster, and overall things are just much easier.
Doesn't mean we are "rednecks".. Want to fuck our sister.. and for that matter.. I don't really listen to much def leopard.. lol. Altho, POUR SOME SUGARRR ON MEEE.. owns.. But I only really listen to it making fun of it.. sorta like whitesnake..
I think I can speak for me and marcin and the rest of the domestic guys when I say we just want to see some good races..
and this evo vs marcin's car sounds like some entertainment..
Peace,
Josh
If the race happens I would like to side bet with someone. I got my money on the camaro. i got $200.00 on the maro anyone want to match me and take the EVO??? Will???? Lightspeed???? I have the money to bet and it doesn't involve the cars drivers just a freindly side bet. Marcin Pm me where and when its going down and I will be there. I'll even bring a T/A we can make some runs with![]()

Well, a V8 isn't really like 2 4 cylinders put together. What are some of the biggest 4 cylinders out there.....2.4L? One of the SMALLEST v8's is the Ford 281, which is 4.6L. That's twice the size of the "big" Evo engine.
An LS1 has 5.7L of displacement, and the new LS2's have 6.0L. Also, a LOT of GM guys are buying 408ci blocks. V8's have massive displacement, higher than any other engine out there. (ok, so the Viper engine has most beat, but there are some v8's with higher displacement than 8.3L). High displacement = high potential. My friend has a built 427 with TT's on it, and makes 780rwhp at only 12psi. Another great thing about V8's is they have ridiculous torque. So even if they aren't the fastest, they're really fun to drive around ;-)
Generally speaking, you're correct. I don't want to get too technical, due to the fact that most here can't comprehend, but there is a bit more to an engine aside from displacement. There are multiple factors.....like, bore size, rod length, stroke, etc. Different combinations are going to have different outcomes. Basically, when you are building an engine, you ultimately decide what you are wanting to do with it, and choose accordingly. I think there is just a bigger market for the v8 platform, therefore, you have more options to make multiple combinations.Originally Posted by Lankhoss

I agree.. there are v8's the size of 2 4 cylinders put together.. 283's, 289's, northstars, mod motors. But they all run different rod/stroke ratio's, bores, valvetrains.. Just as a 11L mountain motor is still 2 banks of 4 cylinders.. it's still 2 sets of 4 cylinders in a v configuration
I definately have researched alot about the things that make a motor.. I prefer a short stroke, big bored motor.. especially in an ls1 application to unshroud the valve and get some more headflow out..
But.. you see it in the engine masters all the time.. stroker motors winning.. making the most avg power.. so I guess it just all depends on what you want.
But.. none of that changes the fact that in general displacement is king. I'm the type of person who always likes more.. more displacement.. more power.. whatever the case may be.
I, however, would not likely be considered white trash.. at least IMO.. and just because I like the idea of being able to run 7's in a streetable car because you have 700 cubic inches more than running 50lbs of boost, nitrous, and nearly grenading a motor.. does not mean I sleep with my sisterShoot.. if it were up to me I'd have a unlimited mile 2 year warranty shafiroff engine with a powerglide and a 9" or dana rearend.. one reliable 8 second car.. that i can likely makes hundreds of 8 second passes in with only minor issues
Later,
Josh
The point I was trying to make, is that V8's are "unique" in that out of all the different motors out there, the V8 seems to get the highest displacement per cylinder. V6's are pretty close, but even then the 4.3L (one of the biggest I can think of off the top of my head) was only equal in cylinder displacement to a 350 (346). And a 5.7L v8 is about medium size, it's not really that huge.Originally Posted by Init2winit
V8's always make good power, but not for there displacement. All RICERS ever say when they lose is well my car makes more power per cubic inch than yours does. EVERYONE in the world can contest to this that if you have twice the cylinders than you will have twice the chances and problems as a 4cylinder. Another words its easy to make a 4cylinder that will stay together under the power load. But there are a million more different variables when there are twice the cylinders.

now take a 4 cyl. you can make the same power, but yes, with more work. nitrious, alot of boost, etc. but you can still make an 8 second car. but that same car can also road race, can be driven daily, can be taken to the mountains. what most dont see is there is more difference between an import and a domestic than just cubic inches etc. the suspension, the weight, and the overall point of the car is different.
in summary.
v8- drag car
4- anything you want.
ps- i know theres exceptions to this so please dont try and be an ass and point out stupid shit like the corvette lamans car etc, because yea, dont.

There is no replacement for displacement, that is very true.
But anything can be made fast and the one true thing that matters is how much time and money you want to put into it.
Don't forget to get vids!
with all the options out there...you see what GM chose for the zo6...is there a better all around car for curves/drag? i dont think so. hp/lb is what wins races not hp/liter. Thats why i get beatdown at the track all the time![]()
slower than you
I like all cars. I just happen to own an Evo and have a slight additction to speed and HP. I also own a V8 S4 that some day will see TT's and I'm planning on doing a V8 build within the next year. This race isn't a 4cyl. vs. V8 for me; I just want to race! I don't care if I was racing a 3cyl. Fiat. or 5cly. Volvo. It's just plain old racing, may the best driver win.
I'm actually excited to see some of these domestics. Hopefully I can get some idea's for the up coming build maybe not...
I'm done posting in this thread, I hope everyone has a safe and happy thanksgiving!

show me any 8 second 1/4 mile 4 cylinder car that can really be driven daily and can be roadraced. Nobody roadraces mega hp cars unless they are race cars. In the end there is no replacement for displacement. Boost for boost the v8 will always be faster and make more power.Originally Posted by fight club

A. take it to pm's
B. call each other and talk about it
C. make a thread in the off-topic or whoreslounge for your conversation
it doesnt pertain to the call-out and it definitly doesnt pertain to any kills of the sort
Thanks for your time

OK, so to clarify what I said... I said that I was tired of waiting for Marcin to come race. I didnt say he never got back to me. He supposedly accepted, but then it never materialized (even though he said he couldnt come up to run me, but he would come up to race 2.3evoOriginally Posted by Speed[]v[]onkey

I think a more likely bet is that the race doesnt happen, given my past experiences with call-outs on here. If it does happen and you are out, we can talk about it then.Originally Posted by slowhawk01

Have you ever heard of Formula 1? Grand Prix? Howabout IMSA? GTU classes? I think its realistic to argue that small dispacement (N/A and turbo) cars are the most successful road racing cars ever.
And if you or distortion think a N/A 1000 HP bigblock is going to be any more reliable or streetable than a 1000 whp properly built turbo inline-6, you are mistaken. With a mild cam and a properly setup turbo, you can make all the power you can ever need. Even a big block N/A motor with 1000 whp is going to be heavily cammed, high-compression and/or running a rediculous shot of nitrous.
HP boils down to airflow in and out of an engine. If you can flow enough air through an efficient head on a small motor with a huge turbo, and you can turn the RPM to support it, you can make rediculous power. If you gear your car so that you can use this RPM, there is no need for "low end torque" or HP.
Yes, there ultimately is a physical limit to how much air you can stuff into a small cylinder and get out of it through the smaller valve openings, so larger displacement engines will ultimately make more power. But with modern technology, there is no usable "limit" to how much power you can make with a small dispalcement engine.
I don't know of any road racing cars that are capable of 8 second times. The closest thing I can think of would be the insane-o Suzuki Escudo PPE. Formula 1 cars are 9 second 1/4 mile capable. Same for the LMP1 class Le Mans cars. These are all lightweight racecars that cost millions of dollars. I know of absolutely 0 production based road race cars that could run an 8 second 1/4 mile time.
A stock C6 Z06 makes over 350ft-lb of torque from 2000rpm all the way to 7000rpm. There's no 4 or 6 cyl that can approach that low end. The mechanics of turbocharging just won't allow for it. The bigger the engine the less stress on it is required to make and sustain a lot of power over a long period of time. The tradeoffs are weight and size. A 600 cube big block will make 500hp all day long on low octane gas and run forever. But it will be big and heavy. Using exotic components like titanium will lighten it up (and drive the cost up) but it'll still be big.And if you or distortion think a N/A 1000 HP bigblock is going to be any more reliable or streetable than a 1000 whp properly built turbo inline-6

Who cares though? That has nothing to do with the point here. I dont know about yours, but my car has a cool thing in-between the seats called a shifter...and it allows me to select a gear that puts me in a higher RPM range for when I need boost response and power. There are plenty of turbo 6's out there making 600 whp on pump gas.Originally Posted by Fast Shadow
I agree its more "convenient" to make low-end torque, and its easier to drive, but its not necessarily "better" if the car is setup right.
How much open track experience do you have? (not being a smartass, seriously asking)
