i really think you're mistaking "street legal" for "daily driven".... but this whole thread is well beyond being relevant anymore.

daily driven. and can still and has been road coursed.
When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things.
"The reality is that a strong, high revving small engines can effectively make as much power as you could ever need. There are 1500+ whp and 900+ lb/ft torque +/- 3 liter daily driven supras out there..."
Spraying your supra on the dyno and blowing it up in one or two dyno's to get 1600rwhp doesn't not count as a 1600rwhp daily driverBecause that's exactly what Marko did.
And most people don't race their 1600rwhp car on the street.. they drive it for bragging rights.. Let's be honest.. if 1500rwhp was enough.. 500 was enough.. and for that matter 300 was enough.
It's simple.. 2 formula motors linked together would make more power than 1It's more technical than that of course.. but that's still the gist of the issue. You can't even too much of a good thing.. that's my opinion.
Not to say that I wouldn't build a 4 cylinder.. if I had a 4cylinder car and wanted to go just a little faster.. I would definately beef it up.. but the idea is that we aren't rednecks because we like more displacement.. and that's been brought up a few times.
Peace,
Josh
Yes.. you are correct.. we are going in circles.. we both agree displacement rules. 2 supra motors stuck together in a v12 configuration would have the advantage over 1. Faster spool, more torque, more overall ability to make power (500hp/l * 6 liters?) heck of alot more. But it wouldn't really be necessary if your goal wasn't to make as much power as easy as possible.
We don't HAVE to get 500 hp/l, altho there are v8's out there making just as much that could technically be considered streetable.. if a 2500-3000hp car can be considered streetableDan millen has driven his to get a cheeseburger on low boost before... with the advent of turbochargers any horsepower level can be streetable at low boost.. then turn it up to race. You can even run high octane in another set of injectors, and pump on one set.. you can do any combination of things to make the car technically streetable.. the main thing imo that isn't streetable is the chassis.
Which is why you won't see many 6-7 sec street cars.. altho I've heard rumors of a few 7 second ones being out there.
I tend to agree if your goal is just to run mid 11's, you can do it in any platform.. even a pinto, albeit it may not be as easy as.. a stall convertor, drag radials, and a 150
shot.. or a pulley/tune/catback and drag radials.
But if you plan to eventually run 9's in a street car.. then I think we can both agree that a 1.8l probably isn't going to be your easiest route.. and likely not a 2.0 or 2.2.. not to say it isn't possible.. but any number of more cubic inches is only gonna make it easier.. hell a 500 cubic inch motor only making 95hp/l could do it on pump gason motor no problem in a 3000-3300lb car.. much less nitrous or forced induction.
I'm not really trying to argue.. that the v8's are the best setup ever.. although I do favor it, simply due to the amount of displacement possible. I'm more arguing, that just because I like MORE power, does not make me white trash redneck imbred sister fucker.. No matter how many names you can spout.. you will always have to remember one simple thing.. and that is displacement is king..
I to, am done rambling.. just killing time til the raceAmong the other list of 1 million things I need to be doing.
Peace,
Josh

I'm way too lazy to read all the crap that every one wrote. But I did see something about a F1 car running 9s in here earlier. Here is a video of it.

who really cares? I mean damn, if you can make a car faster you should do it. If I had only a ford taurus to mod i would do it because its awesome to take a car and modify it. The car becomes unique and its yours then. So I say keep on racing and keep on fixing shit up and just pray to God that they keep producing combustion engines.
