A blow-off valve is still a blow-off valve whether it recirculates or vents to the atmosphere. The reason this name is used (as I'm sure you know) is because it is a valve that blows excess air from your intercooler piping once your throttle plate closes. Where it diverts the air to has nothing to do with it still being a blow-off valve. Common names also used are bypass valves and diverter valves... they all serve the same function.
I have countless videos of "normal" drivers in their 350z's at Commerce running non-stop 14's or at best, high high 13's. There's no way in hell that a 350z with an intake and exhaust will reach high 12's or even low 13's...
