    Default Mach 1 Kill

I pulled out of Cool Cat Racing this past Friday with a friend who has an 03 Mach 1 with intake, exhaust, and a power programmer. Im in my 240 only running 9 psi. We roll onto Eisenhower and go from like 10 mph 1st and 2nd we are dead even then i shift into 3rd and once i started spooling it was over. I just had to share because i love killing v8's in a $5500 car with a 2 liter.

What's the difference in the performace of a Mach1 compared to a base model?
    Any difference?

    They didn't make Mach1's in 02, must've been an '03.

I think you are right. It's a 2V OHC 4.6L V8, and the car weighs about 3500lbs. About 100hp less than the Cobra, but it weighs almost 200lbs less. It also has a solid axle and 5 speed, as opposed to the IRS and 6 speed in the Cobra.

Basically, it's a Mustang GT with a beefed up engine, shaker hood, different wheels, and other cosmetic differences.

The Mach1 is a 4v DOHC Engine, similar to that of a 99 or 01 Cobra without the shaker hood system.

Wah hell, learn sum'in uvry day.

I thought you guys were talking about how the Cobras sounded so much different than the Machs because of the extra 2 valves one night.

WELL HAIL GETCHEE DAMN FACTZ STRAIT CHEVY BOY!

I'm not sure about the Machs sounding different than the Cobras, but I do know the GT sounds different, marginally different due to the lack of valved.

You going to Petit Lemans this weekend?

Hell yes I am. I can only go Saturday, though....since I'm out of town. I'm trying to contact C6 registry so I can go up there and park with the Vettes. I just posted a link on our site with all of the events listed.

Glad you had fun and yes it is always fun busting someones azz in a cheaper car. I have less than 4k in my kids car and a Mach 1 wouldn't even be worth the gas to fire it up.

    Congrats!

The Mach 1 on a dyno is no where even close to 300 hp and they are heavy azz turds.

friend of mine dyno'd 319/325 C&L Intake, VRS X pipe, & Magnaflow catback. That's it... it's a factory freak though because most MACH 1s only dyno @ 275hp/300tq with similar mods. He's beaten an STI, EVO, and supercharged GT's before. Also a nitrous GT at Commerce by a nose.

What kind of dyno, model number and age of the dyno? I have seen the same exact car dyno up to 70 rwhp different on different kinds of dyno's.

If anyone doesn't believe me then they obviously have very little or no dyno experience.

Even 275/300 is a little high for a bone stock Mach 1, of course depending on the dyno.

the mach 1 has a modified box with a k&n cone filter in it. The Mach 1 motor is yes basically a cheaper non supercharged cobra motor I believe. Its not that fast but they sound amazing with exhaust.

DynoJet 248C. The same dyno... the same location. I have plenty of dyno experience (my shit never runs the way I want it to, plus I keep adding more mods on more mods)

Ah I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant that your dyno may read one thing but not likely that another one will read even remotely close. Take that 300 rwhp car to a Mustang Dyno that loads the car differently and it will drop to probably the 260 range. Heck for that matter take it to another Dyno-Jet like at Team Ford or any other DJ and it will more than likely be 10 or more HP difference than yours. Now that I have had ton's of experience in and none are ever within 12-15 rwhp.

I was not knocking your dyno or your experience just comparing other locations/dyno readings.

I understand... but either way... 0 soothing... SAE/STD Corrected or whatever... the car made 319/325 which is un-heard of. Well I have only heard of one other Mach making this much, but timing @ 26*

That's cool and I don't doubt it a bit. I have seen a lot of 03 and 04 Cobra's, Mach 1's, Z06's and numerous others stock for stock on the dyno and even being the same exact car from the factory not one them were even close to a match. People have always said that you can't build 2 cars alike.

I have yet to dyno the car but at 9psi I would estimate that im in the 240-250 rwhp range. Im not really interested in attempting a 400 hp 240. If I can build a 300 hp car with a fat powerband I will be real happy and will probably be able to dominate most cars on the road.

ok to set the record strait. An 03 5 speed mach 1 is factory rated at 305hp and 320tq to the motor. It is a dohc 4v v8. It is similar to a 99-01 cobra motor. It has a forged crankshaft. The hp and tq numbers were slightly underated. Ive heard of many dynoing at around 270 hp stock. A few bolt ons put them at 300 rwhp.stock they have 355 gears. weight is 3465 lbs

Bugman is right about the dynos and the different ones- for example, my old stang made 447 rwhp on a Mustang Dyno but on the dynojet that ACD had it made 545 rwhp. There was absolutely no changes made
Hmmm.... never thought juice could be this much fun.

"weight is 3465 lbs" that is the key. Thats the big advantage to shitty s13's. Mine weighs in at 2600 lbs and will run 13.8 on 9psi all day.

"Us" is all of us who dont have a mustang. I know its true, but it is hard to believe unless u see the video and know that is all that is done to it. 11.80, thats almost as fast as my car.

I talked another Mach 1 owner and it could be done on really sticky tires with a pro driver but given the same circumstances my 240 would also run in the 12's considering that when i drive it i turn trap speeds of 105 easily and i suck
