    Default killed: '02 Si

Mine - 98 Accord 4-door, 3.0 V6 Vtec, automatic, with only short ram and exhaust. Nothin much but its ok.

Opponent - a friend's 02(i think) Civic Si with new cat-back and chip

Me and a few of my friends were all hangin out one night at the local wendy's in newnan. Well some bitchy lady comes out there says we have to go or she'll call the cops or some shit like that. So we all leave and pull out onto hwy. 34. Not a great place to race since there are usually cops but I've been wantin to go against this guy for a while and he always said he could kill me. So we get by each other goin down 34. there are 2 friends in car way ahead and then 2 friends behind us watchin. We both had no one in cars. I wasnt payin attention and one of the guys behind started doin the 3 honks. I punched it in regular drive and accidently take off a little earlier than him so i slow back down so we can restart. I get by him again and i we get goin to bout 40 or 45 and i try goin down to 2nd gear. i hear him shift down to which sounds like second. So the friend behind us did the 3 honks and we both took off. We hold for about a second till bout 60 and jus left him. He couldnt even keep up bout was 3-4 car lenghts ahead till we stopped and pulled into quick trip to talk to some more people. Right when i get out i go talk to him and he jus starts sayin he didnt go to second he jus went to third (it really did sound like 2nd but only he knows). I told him we will have to go again some time. I get a lot of congrats and then my night ends since i had to go back to work.

that dude clearly cannot drive...a chipped 5 speed 4 cyl can beat a i/e v6 auto accord....ecspecially in accelerating....sorry but i cannot congratulate someone because they pushed the gas and steered.....

p.s.s. if he only shifted to 3rd at 40 he's stupid...an si can downshift to 3rd at 60, 2nd at about 45.....if he was goin 40 and chose 3rd then i see why you won

To be honest, even though the accord was an auto, the si would need a lot of work to even stand a chance. The v6 accords are strong, in fact the fastest automatic honda. And the si is a tank. They are the worst car honda ever put the si badge on, imo...so if he beat you I would slap you...

Yea the 02 si are weak, but how hard is it to put it in D and hold the wheel?? I dont care if it is strong. Your not driving your steering.

I can agree with that to an extent, but not to say that when you jump in one of the auto vettes or something along those lines it makes it a pos just because its an auto. I would choose a manual but seeing as how they weren't available in the v6 accords unitil 05 that wasn't an option. Just my .02

Yeah, they are definitly not as fun. To be honest I hate automatics...I just feel bad for the poor people who are fishing for an ego boost and end up getting bashed on...

Are you sure? Unless im misinformed the only manual available with the v6 was the 6 speed in the 05's. In fact it was the first manual honda ever produced for their entire v6 line of engines besides the nsx.

Maybe that's incorrect, I think there might have been a 5 speed 91 legend, but im not 100% sure.

correction i accidentally found the answer lookin at a different car page

2001 Honda Accord V6 EX (modified)
    www.supercars.net

"This is a custom made Accord, The new 6th gen body style honda used for the accord is amazing as is, but i once saw an accord in a skyline body kit, and thought wow what an amazing looking automobile. This bad boy was created off a affordable luxury car, turned jaw-droping beast, with a Black-Widow II like body kit, Twin Turbos installed with a completly tuned Honda V6 3.0L engine, ingen intake and a greddy made exhast kit. this baby forces 400+ bhp out of a completly custom built 5 speed tranny, Honda never made there secertly sporty V6 version of the accord a stock manual, even though the car had an awesome auto-box manual transmissions are the only way to truly drive."

yea from 98-04 no manual in the accord v6 which im sure hurt sales to a degree in the tuner market. However i really think that the si should have won this match. I dunno. I dont rag on people with automatics but when i see a built auto car it dissapoints me.

the J30A1 never had a MT ... you CAN bolt a CL-s or a new Accord 6speed up to it with a lot of money but that's it! ... i used to have a 97 3.0 CL and in one race i was able to beat a 02si and a 97gsr ... granted it was longer than 1/4 mile

ok, EGLover is right... the first year that accords came out in manuals was 05... they did make a type II legend that came out in 6-speed, and a type I in 5-speed. i do think the accord the worthy winner of this race. i have a peice of crap auto lancer that hangs with civic si's (from a roll)

i don't think accord had 5spd back in o1. back when i bought both my vdubs, there were no 5 speed accords... summer 02
i think they made manula back late o3. but then who knows.... i graduated from honda so i don't pay much attention.
not a chance that si would have won against v6 accord. come on.... its an si with little bolt-on.....

    Default yes it sucks

it sucks very badly to have a car like this and have it in an auto. i am only 17 right now and bought this when i was 15 so i didnt think i would be doin all of this stuff. i do not like it at all. it changes everything when u tell them its an auto. thats why i was thinkin about switchin it to a 5-speed but too many miles so i jus wanna see it. im pretty sure there are one the 98-02 version accords as 5-speeds in 4cyl only but i kno for fact not in v6 versions.

im not sure about what he shifted in to it sounded like 2nd to me and i also put mine not in drive but bein stupid and put it in 2nd to start quicker.

Well, I was speaking of cars wearing the honda badge. The nsx is actually labeled an acura. But was the nsx even avaiable in auto? I was unaware of this.

i dont really care if the v6 01's only came in auto. my girl lets me drive her car whenever...bone stock n it hauls balls. i think the 98-02 2dr were the only model i liked anyway. just the appearance....then again im really into show.

Yes released in the redesign of 2003 the accord v6 had an option for the 6 speed tranny. I was working at Honda when the first ones came in, and you want to talk about fast, that little SOB will haul ass.

And you want to be congratulated for beating one of the slowest Si's to date

that accord may not be a "sports car", but the point is the posted kill... which was a good one... i had a 95 SHO taurus with the 230 horse V-6 a few months ago (auto) and I have walked a 99-01 or something SI... nice Kill though
