The RX-8 isn't a drag car, nor do I ever intend it to be. I test drove both the Z and the 8, and the 8, in my humble opinion, can out-handle the Z all day long... now as far as a straight line from a dead stop goes, yea, I'll get killed by the Z anytime... but then again as I've said before - drag racing isn't impressive... speed + handling impresses me more.

Well... I usually just ignore mustangs but... it was black, with that late 90's rounded body-style, and the "GT" on the rear skirt under the bumper, and a "GT" badge just behind the wheel-well.... you tell me?

I have never lost to an RX8 in any car I have owned. Even when the G20 was breaking up, making maybe 210 whp at stock boost they just cant keep up. Which is sad.
I'd rather have an FC than an RX8.

Let me re-state some points I made earlier, and in other posts
a) I've never once said the RX-8 (stock or otherwise) is a straight-line drag car, nor will you ever hear me say that... it's not
b) In this specific instance I was the only one not looking for a race...
Give it a rest guys, seriously. I am hardly talking shit here... the car I drive is bone stock right now, and until my 75k warranty runs out, I'm going to hesitate to do anything to it otherwise... and it'll be a cold day in hell before I drag race anyone ... I think I've actually said that before... did I mention I don't drive a drag car yet?
This isn't "The Fast and the Furious"...and I don't know jack shit about drag racing... let's do some Auto-Cross...

funny how this thread started with some racing in a highway pull, and ending with "I dont drag race". I get it, it must have been a twisty highway.
ROFL! Nice... well, 285 on a late Sunday afternoon can get twisty, hehe... actually to be honest, my wife was determined to see me push the car a little since I was barely over the speed limit since I got 'er.
As a rule, I won't drag since I (a) suck due to lack of experience, (b) dont' have the torque/low-end HP for it... and generally don't like the ticket associated with getting busted, haha... although, ... getting busted -just- inside the perim. on I-75 doing 87 in a 55 sucked.... d'oh. I wonder how much that's going to set me back...<sigh>... "stupid tax" I guess.

actually.. previous stock mustang GT's get knocked around pretty bad by S2k's on the highway, they just arent geared for top end, and are very restricted from factory.. a rx8 isnt alot slower than an S2000, so i kinda beleive it.

The s2k knocks the rx8 pretty easily. It's not a huge blowout, but it's easily done. Seeing as how the s2k and 350z are dead even in the straights, I'm sure you know this
