As much as I'll admit it made me laugh that a mod is trolling you like that. The thing about it is that it's BS. In EVERY other forum they don't just delete a thread. They show their face and they lock the thread and post why. That way everyone is clear on what to do and not do. This passive aggressive crap is really childish and does the website a HUGE disservice by turning users off of a forum that has been getting a lot of traffic that is exposed to advertising. I am really surprised that some mods are getting away with this.
