    Question Rolling Start or DIG???

I'm damn bored at the moment, SO!,What do u perfer and why?? I love both but to be honest you will proly come across the rolling start b4 a dig. Ex: Ur driving down the highway and a vette pulls up beside u or vise versa. NOW, are u guys gonna do a COMPLETE STOP on the highway or do a roll??? Yeah u can always get off the highway, but come'on! 9/10 says the vette guy WILL NOT get off the HW to race u so u got to take what u can! Rolling starts are more of a everyday thing wheres u have to "plan" to go to the track. Unless u live like 5 damn minutes from it!

I voted dig but only because its more fun. The way my car spins I have a better chance in a roll race. But in a dig situation a driver can win a race where as in a roll race its the car 99% of the time that wins the race

Roll is more convenient but a dig race involves the driver mod.

If you are wanting to just compare who has the faster car then doing a roll race will even the odds best because it doesn't take into consideration as much driver skill, traction, etc.

I hate to make excuses but FWD cars are not the best to race from a dig, compared to an AWD EVO/STi or a Domestic which are great from a standing still because of their TQ + RWD.

Ok, let me make this simple, as a lot of people don't understand the difference in what they are measuring with the two types.

A normal Dig is for a set distance - typically 1/8 or 1/4 mile. You are measuring two cars being marked at the same starting point, and being given the same exact signal (usually from a 3rd party), and racing to a set finishing point. It's very controlled, and easily monitored for leaving early, and for which reaches the finish line first.

Rolls as they are being done around here are typically stated from a start MPH to an end MPH. This is not the same type of measurement. The cars are not actually at the exact same speed, the exact same starting position, and have no set finishing point. Even the start isn't the same, as the one signalling through honking knows the exact timing, and the other will have a slight delay before they even can physically hear the honk. It is not easily monitored for if they jump, or if they lie about reaching their stated finishing speed. They are simply comparing accelleration, but not in a fair manner where both have the same chance. One driver will always have an advantage over the other.

In order to make a roll race closer to the standards of a drag race, both cars need to maintain a set speed exactly next to each other up to a set start point (signpost, line on road, etc), and then race to a set finsh point (signpost, bridge, line, etc). A camera needs to be used at both start line and finish line to make certain that one driver does not leave early. Unfortunately, this effort makes it easier to just do what they should have in the first place - a dig run.

digs are fun to attept every now and then, but ive always enjoyed rolls, just because my cars have always had to much power to hook on the street without slicks, and i prefer to know who ownes the faster car, if i want to see who drives better you can bolt on the slicks and head to the track
