I don't think that he means the brand per se. I think that he is refering to kid's Civic - those that look and sound like they should be fast, but really aren't quicker than they were stock. Obviously, performance-enhanced Civics are not in the category of kid's cars, as they take real engineering and development to achieve their power/times.

Honda as a brand is definitely respectable.
