This is the internet, I don't have to "pick" my words carefully... you obv felt guilty or felt that I was referencing you when I wasn't. When I asked you about your gearing I did it DIRECTLY. There is no reason for me to "play off" anything. You asked if I was referring to you - I said no. That was the end of it --- otherwise I would have just mentioned you directly sir.

I totally agree w/ this post. I'm a lurker on SCF and Midwest Street Cars... I know my place and stfu on there as well unless I am being spoken to, which isn't often.
Actually, you aren't the least bit articulate, that's what I'm getting at. If it's gotta be run what you brung, instead of street tire to street tire (which we both already have), I would prefer to wait until I've got drag radials.
I don't know what your car weighs, but I'm assuming it's less than me and Smacked.

I'm about 3115 without me in it, and 5/8 tank of gas.

I believe Smacked is around 3450 - 3500 without him in it, and full interior. That's why, even though he's only 36whp behind me, he's nowhere near as fast as me because of the extra weight. He traps 6mph lower on slicks than I do on street tires.

Ok, been waiting around for a couple of hours for responses and haven't seen anyone type anything...so I'm assuming everyone went to the meet. I'll be up there about 10:00.

I don't know. I am getting worse traction than I originally thought, and if I'm spinning to the point of almost losing control of my car at 90+mph it just seems pointless.

The weather looks bad too, so I was already thinking I wouldn't make it down.

And in case anyone is wondering, my tires are almost completely bald. The wear bars are almost gone in the center, and that's why I'm having a hard time moving forward instead of sideways heh

Naw, we got our runs in and it was apparent who was faster (M3). He also hurt his car, so even if we wanted to go more we couldn't.

Really nice guy, and I hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as we thought.

He also said he was at about 15psi instead of 12...which is what he originally thought he was gonna run at. I'm betting the boost increased with the cold weather.

If my rear C5z wheels will fit on your car, you're more than welcome to try them. They're 315 hankook RS2s on 18x10.5's (not sure if that will even clear your brakes), I was able to get a 1.8 60' out of them launching pretty soft. They're "semi-radials" so at 11psi, they worked great. I know your car has a good bit more power, but it's worth a try...

Repiks said the weather is looking like it will hold off 'til Saturday night.

I appreciate it man, but I'm not a big drag racer. I wanted to see what I could do with the car, how I drive it on a daily basis. I'm also probably gonna put it up for sale next week, so there's no sense in adding wear and tear on it and possibly damaging something or wrecking.

I still MIGHT come down, but more than likely I won't.

Crap. When you can drive it home that's always a promising sign. When you can't... things get iffy. I hope it's a quick/inexpensive fix.

Yeah, we're HOPING it's just a...and I'm having a brain fart here for overhead cams...but the rod that opens and closes the valves.

It could be a connecting rod or piston, but it was a very fast clanking noise inside the motor, so we're hoping he can just fix the problem and be back on the street without having to pull the motor and rebuild it.

First and foremost, Lankhoss it was a pleasure to meet and run with you. No chit talking, no bullshit, and you were very accomidating to me on the speeds we ran from and too (even though on our first run I blew past where we I said I thought we would need to stop). If only everyone who I run was as mature and sensible as you.

I just made it in. Spent forever trying to find a 24 hr tow company that is actually 24 hrs.

    The videos:
Only two runs were well captured on video, our last run and my run against the 996 Turbo. I'll get them off the camera and posted when I get a chance. The run with the Porsche would have been much better if I had been able to hear his horn and he didnt get a huge jump before I realized we were going.

    My car:
Perhaps a broken rocker or a busted Vanos unit. More will be revealed tomorrow when I start tearing it down. I hope its simple and enexpensive, but it definitely didn't sound like it was.

    Its slow... I promise

    My car:
Perhaps a broken rocker or a busted Vanos unit. More will be revealed tomorrow when I start tearing it down. I hope its simple and enexpensive, but it definitely didn't sound like it was.
It was good meeting you as well man, and I agree with you....these are the best experiences, regardless of the outcome of the race.

Well, anyone breaking something is NOT a good experience...but you know what I mean! I'm hoping it's something minor and you can get it back on the street. I have been around too many late night tows home to know they are NOT fun.

I was already finished running him. I had ran the 996 turbo as well. It didn't happen while running, but rather once I was done. I'm sure the stresses of running didn't help the cause, but it was running full force during all pulls. Hell it was driving normal as I got off the exit, pulled off from a light, and drove into the QT.

    Status update:
I'm waiting for my friend to get here so that we can head to the shop and determine the exact damages.

    Its slow... I promise

    Person:

Nope I'm not Rodney. Although our cars look similar to a lot of people, you can rest assured that we don't.

    Car:

Much to my amazement; the head, valvetrain, and Vanos unit all seemed to check out fine and dandy.

However, it seems that the noise was coming from cylinder number 5 and ressonating up through the engine. More than likely a spun bearing. Didn't have time to drop the oil pan and investigate any further as we took a nice leisurely lunch and Brett had to take care of some other business today. I've left my car with, imho, the best BMW shop there is, and Brett will have it back up and running by the time I get back from FL after Thanksgiving. Knowing Brett, it will probably be done well before I ever make it back.

    The video:

I borrowed the camera from a friend and the data cable wasn't in the bag when I picked it up. Miles called together a search party yesterday and they are believed to have sucessfully found the missing cable amongst the residential jungle dwelling. As soon as I get the cable the videos will be up. (and yes I know... this thread is worthless w/o video)

    The hex:

Please Mr. Lankhoss quit following me around and using your voodoo. Voodoo is not very grown up.

    Its slow... I promise

Damn, I know those Z's are mean as hell even stock so the M3 must really be a beast to pull a modded one like Lankhoss's car, i'm ready to see the video of this M3 running.
