when we did the 70 roll i was at the very top of my gear, i had to shift almost immediately once we started.....his m3 is quick though

I will never do that to a street driven car, I will hate a handicaped car just coz I don't have the power... The exeption will be if the car came with a 6spd gearbox!!
I built my racecar a 3:73 diff with higher lockup, because I knew that in the back straight of RA I wanst going to need more that 140mph. But having no top end in a street car is just not smart, I think is one of those mods that will be left for last once the street car makes the final jump to a track/race car.
But now I understand the early comment of "who races from 70".....

Not to argue but:
NHRA Pro Stock uses 5 speed clutchless transmissions that you have to shift.
NHRA Funny Car and Top Fuel use a clutch system that slips at first then engages depending on what the crew chief sets up. That drives the 3.20 final drive.
A lot of sportsman racers do use the auto as it is easier to be more consistant, so I guess both points can be valid.

btstone, cool runs bro, I was dead in the water with the 40 pull way too much side to side action, and the one out the hole i was so out of it that i didnt even rev up, i just took off like i was getting groceries..out the hole is still no contest. we should do some more runs in mexico some time.
