everybody cant be the fastest. If the fwd gets NO traction then race FWDs all day and see where you stack up. You guys are putting too much emphasis on the racing part and not enuff on the laid back fun part. If u wanna roll race leave and then both mat it at the 330 mark. tons of possibilities and all legal. Cant wait to get drug by an awd car with half the hp!!!

whatchoo talking about a awd car? i'm gonna drag you with half the hp in my sherman tank

and agreed, everyones missing the laid back racing with friends part....i think what jerry is proposing is a day where we can all get together, not worry about competition, not have to do anything, change anything, and run against other street cars....sounds like a helluva idea to me and i think a good bit of you could use that breath of fresh air im talking about by not having any stress racing, just doing it for fun

Not missing anything at all. I only go to have fun with friends - no competitions for me. But I am not going to go out and buy a new set of wheels and tires just to go to a TnT. Neither will most other people. And these are the people that will show up - even if just to watch. The guys that normally run street tires go almost every Friday to Commerce for the laidback TnT. Personally, I would not drive 2 hrs to SDR to not run my car, just to watch some cars on high treadwear tires spin down the track. The track depends on both competitors and spectators to make money.
So what will be the difference between this event and a normal TnT? If you limit who can run in the TnT, there will simply be less cars for the TnT part of the event than a normal TnT has, and trailers will be sitting at the parking lot down the street. Most people who spend the money to buy a truck and trailer are still going to use them.
The only difference that there should be is the rules of the racing part of the event - IMHO.

My suggestion is the most practical - any car/bike on any tire can run in the TnT. Any car/bike can be driven in or trailered in for the TnT.

Competitors must register for the race at the gate.
Competitors must have a DOT approved tire with a rating of 140 or higher - no R-compunds, DRs, or slicks allowed.
    Minimum wheel width is 5".
Competitors must meet stock suspension rules:
    - Suspension type must be as originally equipped : factory attachment points must be used
    - Direct bolt-on replacement parts only allowed for suspension componenets (coilover shocks are ok).
    - No mini-tubs allowed
    - No ladder bars allowed
    - No 4-links allowed
    - No wheelie bars allowed
    - Weld-in anti-roll bars are allowed
    - Torque arms only allowed if car was originally equipped with one (I.E. - 3rd and 4th gen F-Body, Buick GNX)
    - Leaf spring cars allowed slapper bars, cal-trac bars, smith trax and complete mono or multi leafs, no half leaf/coil over combos allowed, moving springs inboard is permitted
    - Factory frame notching not allowed
Competitors are required to have working mufflers.
Competitors cars are required to be currently registered and tagged, and insured.
(Important!) Tech director reserves the right to deny any competitor deemed unsafe or not meeting the spirit of the rules.

Of course, all normal safety rules still apply.

These are just my suggestions from going to a lot of events over the years. I would like to see the event take place, but I understand that it still has to attract enough people to make it affordable. It costs money to hold an event at the track obviously.
