I'll have to work on getting my battery cut-off installed. Guess I'll mess with it tonight since I'm skipping out on everything else in life today. lol.

damnit. I forgot about cracked windshields. Mine is down near the wipers. I've never been hassled about it before. They usually deny me based on my relocated battery if anything.

Mine was up near the top in plain sight but very small last time I went and they let me through. Since adding solid motor mounts it has spread across half the windshield though. I just remembered though, I need a helmet too, mine doesnt even have a rated # or something crazy old.

When did they change it? Pretty sure its 12.99, either way I still need one. As soon as I pull up in that thing they ask me where my helmet is, I mean it sounds like its a 9 second car. I tried the "my buddy has one Im using" routine and they asked me to get him to come over...I was like ok Im just lazy its right here. I'll do some quick research

It wont run the ET on street tires but it'll mph, I hope. Thats all I want is to see a 118-120 mph trap speed. My 10 bolt doesnt like slicks!

    Yup, 13.99 or quicker.

Edit:The windshield is up to the Tech inspector and there are no set guidelines

as long as they're not visibly corded and they hold air. Worst I've ever seen them do is kick the tires.

Yep, 13.99 is what I've always known it to be. I guess I'll bring mine along. I think you can have any ol DOT or Snell approved helmet & pass tech.

I don't usually get hassled about my windshield. I think they only care if it's in the line of sight of the driver and could cause blinding glare or if it's a cobweb type crack.

My main problem is going to be getting the battery killswitch done in time. I have a latching relay for the battery wire, but I need to find another 15amp latching relay for the ECU fuse so the engine shuts off along with the battery.

Anyone have any ideas on where I can find a latching relay with a 12V coil and contact rating of 15A @ 12V? Everything I've found so far is online.

At SDR it varies, Ive made multiple sub 14 passes and only half of those they said i needed a helmet...I always brought one but never put it on till they said something. Just depends on who is working i guess.

    http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/sport...C_Rulebook.pdf

    page 54 for helmet rules:

Drivers of all cars running 13.99 or quicker must use a helmet
    meeting Snell K98, 2000, 2005 or SFI Spec 31.1A, 31.2A,
    31.1/2005, 41.1A, 41.2A, or 41.1/2005.

Effective Jan. 1, 2008, full-face helmet mandatory for drivers of all
cars 9.99 or quicker. Goggles prohibited; visor mandatory. See
    Class Requirements for additional requirements.

Drivers of cars running 7.49 or quicker must use a helmet meeting
    Snell SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, or 31.1/2005 Specs.
    See Class Requirements.

All helmets must have the appropriate certification sticker affixed
    inside the helmet.
They're typically not super strict about the certification of the helmet unless you're running really fast.

Yea the guy there last time I went was either bustin my balls or thought my car was really fast or was new!!! The first time I've ever had to show my sticker on the helmet...which is so old the sticker either fell off or was never there. Ive had it for 15 years!

Chunky, try a local auto parts store, somewhere that has an NOS filling station or at least some sort of hot-rodding going on. IDK where you live anymore but Im sure Lawrenceville auto parts would have one, or a store like it.

We've always used good old motorcycle helmets to run with. Never had an issue with that.

Damn, I haven't been to Atlanta dragway in a long time, haha. I miss the smell of burning rubber and race gas. fml.

Dunno if I'll be able to get a relay in time. I'm going to look around tomorrow. If I can't find anything, I found what I need online.

To toggle power to the ECU:
Magnecraft 711XBXCL-12D 711 Impulse Sequencing Relay / DPDT, 12 Amp Rating

and I already have this to toggle the battery connection:
Painless Performance remote disconnect w/ latching solenoid #30206

NHRA rules say that if the disconnect is a button switch, push turns off, pull turns on. I guess this technically not compliant, but I doubt they'll hassle me so long as it turns off with a push.

The advantage to this setup is that the only wiring I need to run outside the car is a pair of thin 16gauge wires. That allows me to build a panel for the switch that I can mount using the two license plate bolts. Which means I can put the switch back inside of the car when I'm done racing.

Anyhow, even if I can't get this all setup, I'll roll out and try my luck. I have about a 30% success rate of sneaking past tech with my relocated battery.

LOL. I would do the same except that my intake runs where the factory battery tray used to be.

Anyhow, I've been meaning to do this for awhile. I really should have a cutoff switch for safety. I also need to build an NHRA compliant battery box since the hatch area is technically part of the cabin. Usually they let that slide too as long as you've got your back seats & hatch cover on.

By the time I get all the BS I need to comply with battery relocation rules, I'm going to be right back up to what a stock battery weighs. Oh well, still worth it for me b/c it lets me run my intake the way I want.
