Z's are also heavy pigs compared to a hatchback honda, so he can still easily outrun one with 100 extra hp on tap because he's only having to move 2400lbs worth of car where the Z is over 1000lbs more. hell a stock zxtt runs nearly 4000lbs with a full tank and driver.

true...a stock tt weighs ~3500lbs.....but mine didn't and uhhh...if that 100hp is at peak.....don't you think the difference will be even greater to the left of peak? think about it....unless you've discovered a way to accelerate and keep your engine at one continious rpm

its true that you must have a good power curve to be faster..... and its okay if the nissan or mitsubishi has better power to like 6000rpm or so...

remember that honda's are higher reving engines.... and the tranny is geared for where the rev would drop to.. which means the honda/acura engines rpm drops to 6000rpm.... and that is where most honda/acura makes power.. its about useable power...

if honda wanted better or more lowend im sure they would have built their motors differently.

When you are done with your 800whp sr20det with vvtc, solid lifter, lash killer, big cams, and big turbo...LEt me know ok...

I think you need to lay off the internet bench racing and get back on topic.

By the way, vvtc is not the same as vtec.

vvtc changes cam timing profile, vtec changes cam lobe profiles.

I'd be willing to bet that this man knows more about nissan and honda than you do about one or the other. Listen. Learn.

yeah,yeah...i know how the systems work...they both strive for the same end result....just getting there by differing means. I never said I was building an sr like that...I just answered the kid who said something about 9k revs and vtec.

My car will be streetable...800whp doesn't sound very streetable to me....technically I'm not bench racing...I have all the necessary parts sitting right here in front of me (minus my turbo and wastegate)....just have to wait to get this cast off my foot, and then find a place where I can turn wrenches.

this thread topic seems dead...didn't mitsuman say he wasn't repling here anymore? Guess we'll just wait for the race date.

Ok here is my chime in since the 350Z was brought into this Mistu/Honda thread.

Being a owner of BOTH, (04 Z, 00 Hatch) I KNOW that the Z is not fastest nor the lightest. Even with running at 262 to the ground without spray, it is SLOW. Hell and to get through the gear tree is a bitch and time consumming.

Proof positive, screwing around yesterday with Paul (Admin) he with Julio in the 230ish whp VW hung tight with my Z and might have pulled if given the distance. The weight is what kills it, and hell I have 400-500 more pounds of ICE. Even with the car stripped down I would think it to be heavy. Maybe one day I will take it to commerence and drop the spray but that is for another day.

My Honda hatch is PERFECT stock at 34mpg and is one of the best beater cars I ahve ever owned, accually it is my 1st and I think it kicks ass, all 90 hp of it.

What sorta pisses me off and the reason for chiming in is that "run4cover" starts talking about this and that, what a B18 have that my SR20 dosen't

Dude no offence but zip it!

Get your new S14 built then talk smack. All your doing in my book is making the Nissan contengent look like shit. Granted you might be the best builder in the world and can spank the onslaught of cars who call you out, but what do you gain from saying I had this car and when I finish building the s14 watch out? Nothing.

My car can hold its own in the quater, but why waste the time talking about it. I would rather say, my shit is slow as monkey balls and surprise the folks at the track when spray can be used safely.

    My

UPDATE: Thank you run4cover that last post brought you back under the good graces of the Nissan Gods. Well thought and not smartass. Kudos to you.

I hear ya, but ummmm...nobody ever mentioned a 350z ......or an s14...well, not the car, just the engine....I have a raggedy ass s13 coupe. My reply about the sr20 vs. b18 was directed to some kid saying I just don't know whats comming...my point is, there's nothing he can do to that honda motor that I can't do to this nissan motor...it's all about the $$$$.

I followed most of what you said, but hear me on this....I DO NOT represent or speak on behalf of anyone other than myself. I've met more a$$holes in the nissan camp than anywhere else! I'm a privateer
