Default *VIDEO* Me SRT-4 vs HKS built Focus (GT3037 S)

Jon Kuroyama from HKS built this 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 a few years ago and since it has been in the magazine "Fast Fords". He recently sold it to a local guy here who thought it was untouchable by any SRT-4.

yeah with an exception of a DCR top end modifier, basically keeps oil pressure equal on the top and bottom of the head so the valves dont float.

Your srt-4 seems to have a better powerband than the focus.I think the focus is making the power, but by time he get going, your already gone .It looks good on the dyno, but dont do **** on the streets.I know someone with a mr2,upgraded his turbo, intake& urbo manifold and was make more power on the dyno, but was running a slower time @ the track

Did no one even read this off the dudes webpage?

A set of milder cams were installed recently and retuned on 91 octane pump gas and made about 380 whp.

the focus build is alittle overkill. 1000cc injectors? seriously?

spool time is alittle quicker unless you have DBB 50 trim. the 20G is also internally gated and you have the option with the hahn kit to run their portfueler system which is pretty much stock injectors with 4 added injectors so when out of boost the car does have huge injectors pulling mass amounts of fuel, instead you have the stock injectors and then an additional 4 injectors to add fuel when its needed. it makes the driveability of the car better.

pretty much you get faster spool than a thrust bearing 50 trim and the kits make good power and are pretty dang cheap.

Anybody read the comment by the new owner of the focus?

"I am the owner of the Focus and it is not 462WHP, not during this race at least. I was on pump so it was making roughly 380 WHP. Also, I was a bit under the power band as the turbo did not boost. Yes, call me n00b, but I just got this car and am still learning it's power band. Keep in mind, the SRT was running 32 lbs of boost while on 110 octane. I was pushing 20 lbs on 90 octane.Props to the SRT4 still, he's a really cool guy also. I'm hoping to run him again on race gas and see what happens."

I think this explains it a little better. Good kill though.

And that is exactly why I will never underestimate any SRT4.

Life begins at 6000 RPMS.. You will notice an audible change in engine noise, large increase in acceleration and any female passengers will immidiately start to remove their clothing.

I love people excuses when they loose...(ahh I do the same.. ).kid in the focus said he has the car at 460+ on pump when we ran...he's gotta save face, big shoes to fill with that car! N-E_way I was granny shifting and having boost probs.
Just installed a catless 3" DP w/dump, Ported intake mani and WOT box with 2 step this weekend!
Next runs should be even better...

Tell him to run race gas and run you again. There is no way in hell he was making 460whp when he raced you. He would have pulled you if he was.
