because the z was spinning? awd > rwd when it comes to grip... you can have a 1200rwhp car get owned by a 600AWHP car, simply because the awd car WILL hook and the rwd car might not... not saying this is every scenario, because that would be just down right ignorant, but i've seen stranger things happen
