Default I'm Out for a Week or Two!!!!

I put the new MT tire's on over the weekend and did some test run's.Anyway's I lost second gear in the tranny. I was told that it would not last long and it didn't. So now I am getting a TH400 with a MRVB and a tranny brake.Time to go faster now!

Before you go and buy a 400 you might want to look at getting the stock tranny built thats what i had done TCI built it and man do i love having that overdrive when i'm just loafing around

I beleive he already has a built 4l60e (level 5)... Th400 is awesome.... and you can always put a gear vender in, that would be best of both worlds.

it is not a stock tranny. It is a stage 4 RPM transmission. I was told it was good for 700hp. I guess they meant flywheel and no to the tire. There is no manufacturer that build's a 4l60e that will hold up to the power that I will be making. Keep in mind I am only at 12lbs. of boost. I want to go to 20lbs.no 4l60e will hold that power.RPM recommended I go with the TH400,but I have changed my mind! i am going with a 6 speed instead. With a 6 speed it will make even more power and i will have more fun with it.It is a Viper spec 6 speed also,so it will hold the power.

It is a level 4. The only difference in the level4 and level 5 is just a 5gear planetary instead of a 4.

my buddy is selling his t56 viper spec (woodstock, ga) it will need a rebuild. he makes 769 the tire, and it's only seen the track 4 times and it will be it's 3rd rebuild one was under warranty. I hear nothing but problems after @650hp

Sorry for some reason I thought it was stock my bad. You can always go to a 4l80 and it won't break. I don't think you could make enough power even on full boost to tear it up. Just something you should think about.

I thought about that, but to be honest i am just tired of the automatic's in general. I have already run over a tranny cooler and 2 converter's,I am ready for a change.Maybe whenever my wife let's me make a full blown race car,i will go back to an auto, but not wright know.

    Chri,Chris,Chris......

Doesn't necessarily mean it's a race car w/a TH400.... Even my stalled/braked RMVB'd lock up TH400 can be as tame as it "needs" to be on the skreet. Just lift a touch and it's a nice smooth shift.

Hell, the TH400 is the least of my streetabilty issues.

Also..... I don't care what Viper spec the M6 is built to, it's gonna need attention sooner or later. Start saving for that big coin rebuild now-

Uhhh..... and any clutch you'll NEED to hold your kind of power will be less than.... uhhh delightful on the street.(Can you say chchchchattttter?)
800rwhp + lsx style clutch + lsx style hydrlolics =
    Ask me how I know-

    Not to mention....
    you'll be more consistant
you'll ET better (Phuck mph. I'd rather have ET and ol' boys money )
you still get to(have to)shift manually
not as hard on parts at launch
costs MUCH less to rebuild when the time comes ($400.00 vs. $1500.00)
and NOTHING sounds better than a cammed/whistling stalled hot rod

Far be it from me to try to sway you though

Curmudgeon, just think how streetable youd be with a 80E!! Still have tbrake but with full auto shifts...electronically controlled....stock shift pattern and shifter...o/d.

Chris I wish you well with the 6 speed but i think you will be very disappointed and regretful in the end. Hopefully I will be wrong.

I hear ya Jerry, but lick for lick/bang for the buck, IMO, a well thought out lock up 400 w/the right stall and gear is a no brainer.

Sure, I'm taching higher than most w/this tall gear, but the lock up makes it perfectly livable. I've got no reason to cruise at 80 mph. If I need comfort/gas mileage, low rpm/high mph cruising, I just get in the ol' Tahoe and have a nice day :boobies:

i hope you dont regret this!! you know you're gonna have to be one heck of a driver to still run those 10's you were running with the auto right? just my 2 cents. the 400 in the slowpra is the bomb. i'd switch the vette over in heartbeat if i found a good deal on 80e!!

I say go with the 4l80e. Just look at the guy above me with his results. Jerry's tank is on his way to the 8's when colder weather gets here and he grows a set and turns up the boost:idb:

Well actually I am going with the 4l80e. My brother inlaw has one in his garage and is going to let me have it real cheap. I am picking it up saturday. As much as I wanted a 6 speed ,I want the best of both world's. With the 4l80e I can still have a tranny break, and overdrive. So as long as I can a tranny shop to build it this week then I will be running again next weekend!

Good decision on that Chris. The reason 4l80 are so expensive is because there hard to find them even in a junk yard. Get with Jerry on a guy building them. I think he has a guy that does a killer job on them. Good luck and hope to see it running again soon.
