    Default VW vs Ford

    VW A2 Jetta VR6 vs New model Ford Mustang debaged (supercharged?)

    My car has only a cone filter, cat-back , and a lightweight flywheel. The guy in the ford seemed like a cool guy and I was wondering if he was on here to find out what his impressions were. I saw him cross my intersection and then pull a Uey and turn down in front of me and he stuck out like a sore thumb. So of course I think I might as well try out the new setup and chase buddy down. Well I get up on him at the next light and i see him check out my custum plate in the front as i pull up behind him. We have one car to clear and its wide open for close to 3/4+ mile.

    We hit it as soon as we left the light and had to get around one car. He got the jump on me as he probably thought what ever some kid is messing around.
    I showed I wasnt playing by reeling him in but a car pulled out and we both slowed and then got close and got on it agian. For some reason my mustang buddy wasnt feeling up to slowing to my speed when Im waving to him. Anyways he got a jump and pulled about 3-4 cars but once we were both at speed he didnt pull at all. I stopped at about 110+ mabye my speedo is probably off

    I couldnt tell if he was in it all the way or not.

    He told me he had a procharger s/c kit on it with some type of straight pipe. I was extremely suprised considering I was hanging with him 30-100

    I need some clarification from the guy. We were running kinda were Im quick which is 5-120 but the nuimbers just dont add up to me. Mabye the guy was BSing about having a charger or he was messing with me I dunno you be the judge.

    BTW his car is blue with mustang writing down the side and has a pretty cool aftermarket grill. It looked clean so i suspect he wasnt lieing about his mods but he seemed really impressed with my setup. My guess is he had a s/c kit on a 6 banger cause i woulda thought a FI GT would smoke me.

    i am pretty sure if he had a Procharger on there you woul dhave heard it those dam things are loud as hell, and if it was a new one with a kit on it you wouldnt have stayed anywhere near his ass, so i call BS on his part!!!!

    i call bs on both parts...a good driver GT should STILL beat you....If its supercharged and cant run quicker than a 14, the driver blows nuts

    You guys say V6 with an intake but I highly doubt that unless my car for some reason is making alot less power for some reason which I highly doubt.

    He had to have had a bunch of mods on a v6 to run like he was either that or was V8. Still dosnt explain why he said he had a procharger kit unless he was playing with me but he did look like he was on it all the way.

    trust me man, if he had a procharger on his car, you would have known!!!! those things are loud as hell even when hes not on it!!!!!

    Gotcha then he must not have been blown. Explains why he was slightly ahead if he was NA modded 4.6 V8.

    As for the Jetta its NA VR6 swap with an exhaust and lightweight flywheel probably about 180-185whp i need to take it to the dyno. I have plans on running a small amount of nitrous. Similar setups to mine depending on the driver run mid to high 13s(no nitrous). I know thats not fast but it is quick.

    Yeah, those Prochargers sound close to the Vortech T-trim. Loud a fuck, there is no way you would have missed the sound or kept up.

    I agree and thats why I brought up that who really knows what he had because I was told by the guy to my face that he had a procharger kit. I dont know my Ford stuff very well. He was a younger guy and I was hoping he would be on this forum to clear things up about his setup. Oh well I had fun and aparently was running on par with a new v8 car.

    Pretty solid for a 17 year old economy car wouldnt you say

    Yeah, i it was an 05 GT with a procharger on it, then that mustang would be in the range of around 425-450 whp!!! so if your putting around 185 at the ground it was most likely a V6 slightly buffed up to keep enough comparson to have dual exhuast to look and hopefulyl soun dlike a V8! either way

    I was looking on the web at the procharger kits and yea a V8 with that kit looks nice. The stage two is like 740 or something if i saw right. It said the procharger kit for the V6 bumped it to about 350 i think so that could be what he was running with. Cause I dont see why the guy would have said he had the kit if he didnt and when we spoke we were stopped and both had music up with two exhaust notes(didnt hear him spool it cause i took off first when we stopped to talk). Whatever really just thinking of possibilities thanks for the props either way

    It could have been a GT. You have to think about hp/weight ratio. I would imagine that his Jetta is a LOT lighter than a new GT.

    I have some extra weight in the car but not too much just one speaker/amp but its a freakin mk II im probably 2700 when im heavy. If i pulled weight i might be able to get rid of a whole lot 2200-2300 mabye more

    You just confused me on your point.

    My point was that he most likely was not racing a v-6 like the other guy had said. I was saying that it was a v-8 most likely. You know, giving him the benefit of the doubt.

    gotcha, I was just saying he was more than likely a s/c V6 cause Ive been looking into it and they seem to make around 330 whp or a Lightly modded GT which would be about the same HP but weight a lil more.

    Still though even with weight the new gts only weigh around maybe 3500-3800, so even at a 1k difference 185whp vs. lets give it 300whp would egaul an ass whooping on the jetta. But like i said i am not putting down the jetta, but the dude couldnt have a P/C trust me i have heard those things on IMports an dDomestics the whine on those thigns are crazy even ideling it sounds like the engine is whistling, then pushing it the engine sounds like its screaming!!!!! so you would now if that thing had a P/C even if you sat beside it, Itcould have been a stock V8 with a shitty ass driver who just made domestic owners look bad!

    If they sound like this ford lightning truck that was at butler tire on saterday then exactly what your talking about. He kept revving the shit out of it and it sounded liek a fucking cat getting raped. Damn thing was super loud.

    Agreed, also It very well could have been a V8, some ppl can find the ground with their feet kick out from under them. I have beat many faster cars w/ lightly modded ones. ex, I beat a cobra in a I/H/E Si coupe, I beat a Saleen S351 on a roll from 20-80 in a chipped jetta 1.8T twice, and same car at F-body shoot out lost twice all day long. People cant drive!!
    Nice kill, but if was a 6 cyl I am more impressed than if it were an 8, the 8 cyl meant dude CAN NOT drive period! The 6 cyl, means you earned it on a close one!

    I have the passat tranny so my gears are a little taller from what ive read. As far as not hearing a V6 or V8 yea i wasnt really paying attention when i stopped, had the music way up blah blah blah i shoulda paid closser attention.
