    Default Home Theatre Installation

Are there any home theatre installers on the forum? Anyone do any side work?

With your knowledge and expertise with audio, I would think you'd be more than capable to do this yourself, David.

I only have one set of hands, and no sheetrock experience. This involves mounting the TV over the fireplace and running the wires through the walls. I can take a car apart and put it back together, but not a house.

    An estimate.

Have a small 7.1 that needs to be installed with the flatscreen above the fireplace.

I have the cables but not the speaker wire. I have mountimg plates as well. The key is the sheetrock work and mounting the equipment.

Do the work yourself. Not hard. are you sure you want it above the fireplace? I considered that myself and opted for another wall. the viewing angle is just to weird for me.

Involves mostly cutting and fishing wires. You can run wires behind wall, under trim or in the ceiling, depending on placement.

But I would say average price would be between 200-300 dollars if you have all brackets yourself.

For a full 7.1 installation + TV Install I wouldn't personally touch it for $300. The install itself really has a lot to do with the room and how hard to run the cables. Is there an attic above the room for the install?

a good installer in a typical house can do it without needing "sheet rock" repairs. 2 story homes make it more difficult without crawl spaces. If you lived near me I would assist haha.

Fireplace is the absolute worst place for a television. Who wants to look UP at their movies?

This room is not the main home theatre and is a little different. It is the middle story.
Ill just pay a company to do it. Thought that someone here might make some side money but as usual, no one on here wants to earn any money.
