Thumbs up The Most Baller Netbook Ever: Alienware M11x Overclocked (11.6" Gaming Netbook)

I pre-ordered a few of these to test out, review, and sell afterwards... (I've owned 30+ laptops). I finally got one in today... Alienware's new M11x netbook. A small as a typical 11" netbook but packs the punch of a 17" gaming laptop... amongst all its jazzy features, the thing that stands out the most is the ability to turn off the nVidia 335m gfx card and use the on-board video for extended 6hrs+ battery life... true portability combined with performance.

Price and battery life makes it not a netbook.

Battery = ~6hrs on discrete... similar to average of netbooks...

So if a laptop costs $1800 (well more than double the avg cost of a laptop), is it not a laptop then?

    Mute points.

i would consider it a laptop as well... the netbook category is small/light/inexpensive w/ a price point less than 500$ primarily.

nice though - i almost bought an HP elite laptop which is similar but for business

^Exactly I bought a netbook because it was cheap, plus mine has a 10 hour battery. 6 is pathetic and only if you disable the discrete card. You can buy some semi gaming laptops for 950 bucks, this seems like a typical alienware product...

ROFL, you should see the one sitting in what I call my pile of shame. My friend spent 4k on this alienware laptop, it weighs over 20 pounds, and was dead the day after the 1 year warranty expired. Next to an iBook it has to be one of the worst designed laptops I've ever seen.

Wow, definitely a 'pretty' netbook. I've been a fan of Nvidia's R&D when it comes to 'turing their GPU's on or off' in regards to preserving battery life. It's a nifty innovation.

can you not disable normal video cards and use the on-board??
or is that just on a desktop?...where the fan would still run from the desktops power supply.

I would never spend that much on a netbook or laptop. If I wanted good performance, I would've just spent my money on a decent desktop for half the price and use the rest on a normal portable machine. It looks good though, typical Alienware bling.

it looks like the keys light up when it's on. Def. would be annoyed by that.
