    hella old pc here...lol

    Windows 2000
    P4 1.6
    512 ram
old school 32 meg vid card
    40 gig HD sata 7200rpm
    HP 9100 CD burner

very old technology....lol. New Quad core setup in the works for 2009. Can't complain though since i use Norton ghost to bail out of tricky lockups that i can't figure out. With ghost image i have a brand new pc install in 30 mins tops with all apps preinstalled and configured. Highly recommend to people who just want to keep running lean and mean all the time....and new pc basically. b/c it's not loaded with crap...over time.

    New setup:
    Core i7 860 2.8Ghz 1156 socket- On sale locally and i got 1 day b4 official release
Windows Vista 64 bit free upgrade to Windows 7
    4bg Corsair DDDr3 1600
512 mb DDR3 EVGA 250 GTX (entry midlevel vid card, again overkill but should handle video editing / capturing very nicely) rebate avail..
Lite on sata DVD-Rw DL burner
23" widescreen monitor Acer ( I hate acer but supposedly they make ok monitors) on sale too
    Integrated Nic, and sound
Asus P7p55 Pro motherboard triple sli capable, lol. (this junk is mega new)
OCZ vertex ssd 60 gig - local price very comp. w/newegg
Corsair 650 watt PSU - high quality PSU matters these days when u have a decent vid card, lol - on sale too
64 bit software here and there

Note on SSD (highly I recommend if you don't need that much space) -
This article better explains why you need SSD, basically justfying it's purchase. It explains it more in a more practical sense. I have the ocz vertex, but a diff. model. It really is that impressive in person.

[ A difference of 24 seconds hardly seems like much, until you actually think about it in terms of PC response time. We expect our computers to react immediately to input; even waiting 6.6 seconds is an eternity. Waiting 31 seconds is agony in the PC world. Worst of all? This is on a Core i7 system. To have the world’s fastest CPU and to have to wait half a minute for a couple of apps to launch is just wrong. ]

Now if I can only figure out how to get my old 32 bit apps (apps not available in 64 bit ) to install on my 64 bit windows vista.
