$400 for those specs are a big rip IMO esp for a Celeron CPU and Vista Basic. but if it does what you need it for then :goodjob:

HP Pavilion Dv7 Notebook PC
AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual core Mobile RM-72 2.10Ghz
4GB Ram
Vista Home Premium
Lightscribe
300GB Hard drive
All optional software/software upgades from HP

The main one with all the multimedia I got back in 2005 is a HP Media Center m1050e with a AMD Athlon64 3200+ (1.8 Ghz NewCastle) single core CTO from Office Depot. I also have another Media Center about a year older running a 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 with HT (Prescott). Both have TV tuners and and not maxed out on RAM yet. I have probably upgraded the drives on those more with all the media I have, lol. The only downside on those units I see it not running dual core. The one I use the most in my Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 with the Turion X2 TL-56 running Windows 7 RC 64-bit. This one is pushing two years and I'm probably replacing it this fall.
Built it in 2003 for one thousand dollars. Run Ubuntu or Centos when studying for the RHCE. Run XP home when playing games that don't run in Wine.
Linux. Two thumbs up.
$200 of that is for the Vista license....Quote:

This article better explains why you need SSD, basically justfying it's purchase. It explains it more in a more practical sense. I have the ocz vertex, but a diff. model. It really is that impressive in person.

[ A difference of 24 seconds hardly seems like much, until you actually think about it in terms of PC response time. We expect our computers to react immediately to input; even waiting 6.6 seconds is an eternity. Waiting 31 seconds is agony in the PC world. Worst of all? This is on a Core i7 system. To have the world’s fastest CPU and to have to wait half a minute for a couple of apps to launch is just wrong. ]
Now if I can only figure out how to get my old 32 bit apps (apps not available in 64 bit ) to install on my 64 bit windows vista.
