Thread: Anyone seen that UTI commercial?

Default Anyone seen that UTI commercial?

I was flipping through the channels yesterday and happen to stop on the SPEED channel. It was one of those info-programs on UTI college. I believe it was for the HotRod-U program. They were talking about all the technology you'd learn, new/old, blah, blah, blah. And one at one time it showed a list of all the misc. stuff you'd learn about and one just popped out at me. They listed VTECH w/ the little R emblem. I thought that was a phone manufacture

I graduated from uti and they talk abot how Hondas V TEC works but theres not a class or test on it or anything. If anyone on here is thinking about going there they should talk to alot of people that went there, some hate it some love it.

I will tell you first hand once you get into the dealer they dont give a shit if you went to bumblefuck tech or UTI. School = School. Save your money and go to a local technical college.

Thats the one I went to, its not just Nascar the core program classes are the same in all the schools. Your first class is Basic Engines then Basic Electronics then you go from there. The Nascar program is at the end. I never watched Nascar before I went there but I do now.

Its fun using the engine and chassis dyno, and trying to squeeze more power out of them. Also you learn how to set up a chassis and fabricate metal. I made a gas tank and a fender out of a peice of steel. I didnt even know how to change oil before I went there.

If you do go, go every day and study because you have to be perfect and I mean PERFECT to get into the good factory programs like BMW Mercedes and Porsche. Or you could go to ford all you have to do to get into the ford program is graduate and pay for it.

Not if you want to work at BMW. You have to go to the BMW factor school to get a job there.

Not true. My friend was a tech at Global for a couple years before he moved out of state and he didn't take the "Factory school." And no, he wasn't just an oil change guy. Every manufacturer has their own "school" that they send techs to for their new stuff, but it is not a requirement to GET the job.

Like me for example. I went there and HATED the school. I was at the Orlando campus and I dropped out cuz I wasn't learning hardly anything. Definitely not worth the 22K for 13months of school. The common phrase you heard at my school was "I can't believe I paid 22K for this kind of training". I don't know about the other campuses though, I have heard good things.

yeah you have to graduate from UTI and be accepted into the program. But it is VERY difficult to get into. I believe there are only 20-30 seats available out of ALL the UTI schools to get into the Porsche program

Or you could start out as a bitch at a dealership and work there for five years and they will send you if you ask them enough and the owner of the dealership is worth a billion dollars. friend of mine did that.

as another UTI grad i would'NTdo it again. and i also storngly beleive you dont need UTI to get into top end dealerships ,bmw, mercedes ,jag ,ect ,ect.

if i could do it over i would take WYo tech

i also questioned myself paying alot of money for the training but , when you got to drivability and so on ( pass the basic shit) it got better. not worth the money now but looks good on a resume

BACK YARD TECH FTW!! > UTI

i wanted to go to uti but when i found out how much it cost i said f**k that, i also have heard alot of people say that it's not even worth it .im going to Gwinnwtt Tech for the Toyota program. they also have Ford, GM, Toyota, general auto, Nissan, and chrysler. And there cheap I dont think any automotive skool is worth 22k a year.

No you dont need it but if a kid with little or no experience or tools walks into a high end dealership they are going to make him a fucking porter. Then after a few years they might let him start changing some oil. If you go to UTI and work your ass off you can get right into an apprentice tech position with a bunch of Snap On tools, training and knowledge under your belt. I would rather spend 22k on school and be making 60k a year by the time I am 25.

Just to get it out there going to a local tech school is just fine and you can learn just as much as UTI or WYOTECH. A lot of the teachers at UTI come from a tech school.
