A/C Shop Needed; Woodstock if possible

Working on my car, and I want my A/C back operational.

1991 Honda Civic Hatch Std.
Sanden compressor

My clutch was bad on the compressor so I took it off to work on it. I THINK I've fixed it, but I opened the line, so I wanna get it evacuated and re-filled. Shoot me an estimate on it, I'm in woodstock, so if you're local it's even better...if not...oh well, I'll travel.

Well, I can easily get my hands on one fo those, but I still need to get the system evacuated. It has to be taken to negative 15psi, and I dont' think AutoZone rents a tool to do that. At 15psi it takes all of the condensation out of the system..it literally evaporates. If there's any in the system, it'll corrode parts from the inside, and won't be cold, and will basically destroy the system. But once I get it evacuated, I might do that.

If you take 75 north to 575, get off at exit 7(hwy 92). make a right and go through about 5 to 6 lights. at the top of the hill will be hwy 5 or canton road, you will see a wachovia bank on the right make a right at the light there and get in the left lane. you will go through the 1st light and you will have to make a u-turn just after the traffic light and then you will see lanier auto care on the right and kool cars is right behind them.

I'm just hopin' someone can give me a rough estimate for cost in this type of crap. I'v enever had A/C so I know nothin' about it.

i live in town lake and work in marietta off cobb pkwy. i'm the manager at my shop, we'd charge bout $100 to evac & recharge, you'd prolly be looking at aroun $50-$60 in r12 ( freon ) BUT, my question to you is, how do you know there's not trash from your compressor coming apart inside the system, 2 what about your orifice tube, 3 accumulator/reciever dryer? when a customer comes in the shop, and they've diagnosed their own car. here's what happens. 1 you're right, we did the labor, your car's fixed have a nice day. 2. you've spent a couple hundred bucks and your cars still not fixed and you're mad at the shop, THEEEN gonna say, "well you're the mechanics, you're supposed to know" and we say nothing, because i wouldn't touch your car and be responsable for the repair, or even let you waste your money. so i would refuse your business and you'd be mad at me and you'd go to the next joker , and he'd half ass your car, or at least make you spend $160 then tell you you need a new compressor, dryer, orifice tube, evac & recharge, and 2 lb's of r12 (which you can't buy at autozone unless you're licensed). then you still probably won't recognize who the real HONEST mechanic shop was. Who really did You a favor and a service without giving you anything at all.

That's what I say.

SD, what would advise me doing to get my A/C working? I'm a student on a budget, so I'm just trying to do this as cheaply as I can...but I don't wanna spend 100$, have it work for a day, and then it be screwed.

Our diagnosis...or what we assumed...
The A/C clutch wouldn't engage...but when we used...say, a stick (technical tool) to push on the clutch a little bit, it would engage and blow cold air. Well, we then took the compressor off, plugged the lines and ports, and removed the shim on the compressor clutch, reassembled it, and that's where we stand now.

Thanks for any help you can provide. As stated before, I don't really know jack-shit on A/C, I'm just doing the best I can and learning a little on the way.

that could have been an easy fix. before it could have been a fuse/relay, a little low on freon ( which probably means there's a leak ), an ambient temp sensor or pressure switch, something along those lines. now though you're gonna have to take it to a shop.
