Default ninja 250r or cbr 250r

which would you choose, a new ninja 250r or cbr 250r? I am leaning towards the ninja but still undecided. Haven't ridden in over 4 years so figured to get back in the feeling of riding I should start out with a 250 again

If you already know how to ride your going to kick your self in the ass if you get a 250 because you will outgrow it so fast.
I've ridden bother the ninja and cbr 250s, they are both pretty much the same thing. If I had to chose I would go CBR, but I'm a Honda guy.

The Ninja 250r looks WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYYY better than the cbr250...............

You'll grow out of a 250 in a week, you'd be better off going with a older 600 unless you're seeking max MPG.

Like everyone said, might as well get a 600.

I'm a kawi guy so I'll say 250. I've had 2. Great little bikes. VERY VERY low. a stock honda civic is faster.

I've actually decided on none of the above. found out that kawasaki has just brought out a brand new furl injected ninja 300r that is super cheap and cool. I used to ride a zx6r and was never able to really open it up. plus a 600 has a tougher clutch lever and I hurt my left hand a couple years ago hence why I stopped riding. the smaller cc bikes have a lighter clutch that I can still work with a messed up hand

i wouldnt let a clutch lever decide what bike you get..... that's a removable/adjustable part, you can make the clutch as hard or as soft as you want it to be.

however..... that 300r looks reallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy good.

    yea the 300 looks good

I wouldn't recommend a 600--they suck on the street and if your inexperienced they are harder to learn on

in that case a sv650 or ninja 650/versys are very good middle weight bikes--more practicle then a 600SS on the streets and you can still beat all the squids in the mountains and on the track

that being said: the CBR250 is more fun around town--the ninja 250 has slight advantage in the power department tho

the cbr is also fuel injected

question: how does a 600 suck on the street and hard to learn on? my first bike was a 06 zx6r and it was a great learning bike. plenty of power for me and very easy to learn on, got rid of it and a year later got an 05 gsxr 600..still great on the street

I think he means you have the rev the shit out of it for it to get going. I remember going from a sv650 to an zx6r and thought the zx6r was slow as shit until I realized I had to get it up to 14k rpms

That makes no sense at all. I dont know how anyone who has a basic understanding of how engines work would come to this conclusion.

    Not even remotely the same....lol

    In fact I bet a 250 Ninja would beat an E36 325IS.

how does that make no sense at all. in a 600 you have no power until a very high rpm range

I'm starting to question if you have ever even ridden a motorcycle before with this crazy nonsense. You dont *need* to rev your bike over 5-6k on the street.

way more than that. But yes to actually move you don't have to rev the shit out of a 600 but to get the most out of it yes you do. sounds more like you don't know shit kid

I've got about 10,000 miles this riding season kiddo. I travel on my bikes. "to get the most out of it" you're in a thread talking about someone purchasing a 250/300 for street use. Most new bikes will do 100mph in first gear and you're in here acting like you have to fucking redline a bike to get in and out of traffic. Your argument is the same as any other squid who jumps on a bike for the first time... scared of the RPM needle. I could ride a 600 from here to california without going over 8k rpm.......... and i wouldnt need to pass the 6k rpm mark until i was on the interstate.

You saying a 600 isnt good for the street because you have to rev the shit out of it to ride it could be the dumbest fucking shit i have ever witnessed on this website...... and people who drift are on this website......

Have you seen the 2011 Honda CBR Mugen 250r? I started on an 05 CBR 600rr. I found it sufficient for my needs.

Hadnt seen it until just now when i looked it up. What makes me like the Ninja better is that it disguises its size better than the Honda. The Ninja plastics are larger than the cbr and they flare out to hug the front/rear wheel. The way they did the plastics on the CBR, makes an already small bike look even smaller.

and yeah... an 05 cbr 600 is most definitely "sufficient"

Can't understand the whole 600cc not being good on the streets but more than that....

....how do you figure you have to rev the shit out of a 600cc bike to get it moving? You obviously ride for the wrong reasons. A 600cc bike is not only a great starter bike but awesome all around. Has enough power to move and plenty of power on the interstates to ride out. I also question your riding time and skills.

OP, for the price of a new 250-300, you can pick up an '03-'04 CBR600RR. Absolutely loved mine and it was plenty.

I really don't care, but w/e. not about to argue over the internet. but trust me I am far from a squid, hence why after not riding for a long time instead of just jumping back on a 600 or liter bike I want to get on a 250 or 300

So, you're such an experienced rider that you feel the need to start over on a 250 to reteach yourself how to ride a motorcycle? Whatever floats your boat i guess, i wouldnt mind having a 250 myself............ but my 250 would have to look like this

like I said I am done arguing. if you think I am a squid, fine. but to let you know. I have 0 tickets on my record nor have I ever ridden a bike with no gear. a squid to me means someone unexperienced on a 600 or 1000 with no gear weaving through traffic. that is def not me

Well gear up and enjoy your 250. There was no argument, just me telling you that you didnt know what you were talking about when you clearly didnt.

I been ryding over 3 years with no ticket. Started on a 600 with no experience, except knowing how to keep the bike up right. 6 months after purchase, passed my ryding test with just 1 infraction. On the same 600 I had no experience ryding.

Not trying to bash you. You'll be mad at yourself later for getting a 250. With time and practice on a 600 you'll be satisfied for many years to come. But if a 250 floats your boat. Go for it.

Not to beat this horse, but everyone else has it pretty much on point. I AM a new rider, just got my r6 4 months ago and it has plenty of power in the 4-7k range, but doesn't get exciting until like 10k. IDK, how that's not sufficient for the streets and if that's not sufficient the power of a 300cc is really going to let u down. I outran my friends ninja 250 w/o ever even shifting, or for that twisting the throttle more than 70%. If you've actually ridden before which I think all of us are starting to doubt, I say jump on a 600, get the clutch adjusted and just take it slow. Anybike will kill u if let it, 300 are not safer, just slower

we get it.... you're mild. some people are destined to spend their 401k on a minivan, some of us are a little more adventurous. If you want a 250, more power to you... ride your little heart out....

however.... your comment about 600s was still fucking retarded.
