Default Transmission fluid question (ASE*TECH, get in here!)

So I'm changing the clutch/flywheel. Tranny is out, so I figured I should change the fluid instead of reusing it (I've never changed it). But everything I read says use a specific "Honda manual gear oil". Can't I use just any Synthetic manual transmission fluid?

Please, somebody let me know so I can get this thing back on the road.

yeah you use oil not transmission fluid, but idk what kind. Also do not flush your transmission.

Its slightly expensive. I've ALWAYS ran 10W30. Any 10W30 will do, no need for synthetic. It even says its OK to use in the Honda Owners Manual. Ignore the "temporary use".

Do you still have your owners manual? Check that thing. Never had an issue using
    10W30.

Pennzoil synchromesh hands down for me. All that I run.

Fairly inexpensive and not too difficult to find.

Amsoil full synthetic is pure win. I changed from Honda mtf to amsoil and felt a world of difference. I'll never use anything else

Interesting, why do you mix them in the summer? I'm sure the syncomesh's tollerances are well within what you would need for Georgia summers.

10w30... Never had a problem. 100s of cars... Now automatic Hondas, Honda only fluid, but manual 10w30.
