Cash or Check

Giving two of my guests $100 since they pay rent on time. I don't like to use the word tenants makes me sound like prideful or something. I usually take them to dinner, give gift cards etc.

anyway

What seems better to give, on a psychological level, CASH or CHECK? Which leaves a better impression? is cash too impersonal, is it the same, does check invovle too much?? what are your thoughts? Is cash more convenient?? blah blah...

don't give 'em shit...i don't get a god damn thing for paying my mortgage on time, i barely got a thank you when we picked up the title to my wifes car after paying it off....fuck 'em, paying on time is what they are supposed to do....you do it this time and they will come to expect it.

but with a check they have to find somewhere to go get it cashed. with cash, they can just drive down the street and immediately use it. or if they want it in their checking account they may have to wait til it clears, etc. I mean if u gave me $100, I would think a $100 bill would seem more "professional" than 5 $20 bills. Thats just my opinion. I would prefer teh cash.

i know i don't have to give them anything but I do things a little differently. Payment has never been late in 3 years so i just recently started my rewards program LOL.

SiRed-they usually pay by check.

If you are going to do a cash, make sure it is a crisp 100 dollar bill. Why not do a cashier's check, or just take 100 bucks off rent for the next month?

if you insist on doing it id rather have $100 back than $100 off, 100 back seems to me as you are giving it to me, 100 off is almost like you can do that, so who cares?

Extremely true statement right there, I learned that being a car dealer. You can give someone $500 off a car's price BUT try selling a car to someone then actually giving the $500 in cash a week later - TOTALLY DIFFERENT APPRECIATION LEVEL!!!

Id say cash in an envelope slipped under the door with a letter inside. The convenience factor is really nice, because it doesnt force them to go to your bank to cash it or for them to wait for it to clear at their bank. Or they could be like me, wait a few days before I cash it. I feel if i cash a check immediately, it makes me look extremely desperate/ hard up on cash, and to some pride is more important than the cash.

The reason I wouldnt recommond a PP debit card is because if it remains inactive it depreciates (fees dwindle the funds.)
