Default Does anyone know how to wire up a relay for trunk pop?

    Hey all....

The Viper alarm manual says I can use my after market trunk popper but needs a relay... anyone have a guide as to what wire goes to what on the 4-wire relay?

The output from the alarm is 200 mA (-)

    any help please

Use the red/white wire should be the second channel on the viper and go to the relay, then out of the relay to the solenoid for the trunk release. That will send power to the solenoid when you hit the II button on the remote. The relay because of the negative that comes out of the alarm. Hope this helps it is really the only way I can explain it without having one right in front of me.

What he said. You have to go neg to pos through the relay. Been a long time since I have done it I dont remember the actual wiring of the relay. I went out to the shop to look for one and couldn't find one.

A 4 prong relay should have each pin marked if you look closely. The pins are 30 - power source, 85 - ground, 86 - acc. or switch, 87 power out. Wire it up accordingly. Hope that helps.

    Alright I got a problem!

After all hooked up, I connect the battery in and the trunk pop stays active. I un-connect battery and it de-activates.

    Heres how I connected:

    30 - HOT 12v battery
    85 - Ground on body
86 - Wire from alarm for acc
    87 -Wire to trunk pop

    What you guys think??

This should be right assuming you installed a trunk release solenoid and it needs a positive trigger.

I wired it up like this said and still does the same thing. Once I hook battery back up the trunk pop engages non stop...

Any ideas guys? Could my trunk pop be wired backwards? (-) (+)?

Alright here is another diagram I found:

Ok this looks like the on switch is switching on 12v supply... my alarm is providing a 200mA negative supply. Would I want to set it up like this?

    86 - 12 v
    87 - 12 v
    30 - trunk solenoid
    85 - (-) from alarm (acc)
