A Suwanee teenager has died in a crash
Gwinnett County police said occurred during a street race.
Alexander W. Lebar, 18, was killed Friday afternoon when his car spun out of control at a curve on Suwanee Creek Road and collided with a mailbox and tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Gwinnett police said.
Investigators determined that Lebar and a friend, 18-year-old Reymond C. Edwards of Suwanee, were racing each other when Lebar crashed about 4:45 p.m. Edwards continued on after the crash happened but later returned, according to police.
Neither Edwards nor his passenger was injured. Police arrested Edwards on charges of racing and reckless driving. He was released Saturday on bond from the
Gwinnett County Detention Center.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
