    Default My new car!

    This week, I made a big change. Here's the story: I purchased a '05 Chrysler Crossfire convertible in March. I love the car, but its a Mercedes engine in a Chrysler body. An oil change cost $110 from the dealership, couldn't do it yourself, can't even replace air filters yourself. BOO! So I went to the Honda dealership because I originally was deciding between the S2K and the Crossfire. I got a heck of a deal on the Crossfire in March, so I got that one.

    At the Honda dealership, they made me a really good offer, so I decided to do it. Its going to cost more, but maintenance is a big issue: NO maintenance for 100k miles, except oil and tires. I can do my own oil changes, basic maint. etc.

    So here's what I got. I picked up a 2006 S2000 with 175 miles on it for the same as what I was paying for the X-fire














    And a couple of guys I was hanging out with tonight in Columbus

    lol i work at a chrylser dealership, and i agree with you man the crossfires suck, there tiny and slow unless its the 6spd srt-6, but the s2000 is a FUCKING UPGRADE!

    Yeah i enjoyed the X though. It was 6-speed, and pretty peppy with the V6, good low end torque. It also had a little more room than the S2k, but overall, Honda > Chrysler. I had a '97 Prelude with a JDM H22A swap, I/H/E, etc before the X, so I'm getting back to what I love

    wow i drive the s2k's all the time when i can while i am at work, and they seem to have alot more room than the crossfires!

    The X had wider seats since its more of a luxury car than all out sports. Of course I had the convertible, so with the top down it had a lot of room. But still I love this car

    I like the crossfire better, it's different. S2k is nice but your gonna spend all you extra money hooking it up.

    thats one thing i was worried about. What I'm probably going to do is spend all my extra time dreaming about building it, but probably won't do any of it.

    The first thing I'm gonna do is probably an AEM V2 intake, then Invidia test pipe. Then from there, who knows. I can't really lower it because its my DD/aka only car. Eventually I'll probably tint, then just keep it clean

    Nice change! That reminds me of my car when it was bone stock.
    I think we met at one of the Varsity meets one time too. Now we have the same year/make/model/color. Just don't get BBS Lm in gold or we will have a problem... lol.
    Lowering that thing is a must! I drive my S2000 every other day and I have no problem with it being lowered. If you slam it, that is another issue. There are no problems with the car being lowered 1-1.5 inches though. That is the very first thing I would do. Then add tint. Then add a lip, then spoiler, then wheels, then....
    PS... don't waste too much money on intakes, test pipes, and exhaust for your new car unless you are doing it solely for the sound. The only way to get meaningful power on this platform is forced induction really.

    I'm definitely not going for a whole lot of power with this car. I mean, its my only car and I'm financing it, so I'm not planning on spending a couple grand for a turbo kit. Whats the point? No matter what you do, there's always going to be someone faster than you.

    and yeah I'll check out those websites.

    Def agree with the logic... Why pay Benz costs for a Chrysler? If I'm paying $110 for an oil change... well...

    I can't really say anything cause my del Sol used Royal Purple or Redline oil, so I was usually at about $80 for a change, doing it myself... but if I'm gonna pay someone $110 to change my oil, my car better not say Chrysler on the front lol.

    You should be thrilled. Hell, I know I was. Amen to the comment about someone always being faster too. There is always someone slower too...
    You will probably realize soon enough that the fun in this car is all about handling. Take it to the track and to the mountains ASAP! Before it gets to be too cold and you will see what I mean. The first time I took my old AP1 to the mountains was magical.

    yeah thats what I said. It ran 8 quarts Mobile 1 0w30 and a mopar filter. I couldn't buy the oil anywhere, had to order the filter from Chrysler. BOO

    I should be taking it up to North Carolina mountains in a couple weeks, definitely looking forward to it
