IMPORT SHOWDOWN INFO
SEP 30th-OCT 1st 2006 at Silver Dollar Raceway
The Import Showdown is the southeast hottest sportsman drag racing event. Our event is by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. We offer a unique mix of test and tune runs (open, non competition) with sportsman focused competitions. We offer classes that appeal to novices and daily drivers, all the way to serious competitors.
Our event is open is any make or model vehicle, import or domestic, running any setup, as long as they meet track safety requirements for Test and Tune. Competitions have cylinder, driveline, power adder, tire, and other regulations. We also allow motorcylces to run Test and Tune.
The Import Showdown is put on by volunteer members of GA DSM. The event is not for profit, as 95+% of all funds are turned back into the event.
Gate Fee (Racers and Specators): $10
Racing Fee: $20
TShirts: TBA
Please note, everyone entering the track, whether racing or watching, must pay the gate fee. The racing fee is for those who wish to make passes. The racing fee covers Test and Tune, as well as the competitions.
At least half of the Import Showdown is focused around Test and Tune/Open Run passes. This gives everyone, regardless of make, model, or setup to run. It also offers an opportunity to those who are not as interested in competitions to be a part of the event. The largest block of time set aside for open runs is at the beginning of the day, we so recommend arriving early if you would like to get the most out of the open run period.
Those who have attended test and tune days at track such as Commerce will truly enjoy our much shorter staging lanes. You will most certain get more runs in during the Import Showdown than the average test and tune day at many drag strips. Since we average nearly 8.5 passes per racer at our event, with hot lappers realistically being able to get 20+ runs in, you can see one advantages of the Import Showdown.
The Test and Tune/Open Run sessions have no rules on vehicle or setup. You can run any tire, fuel, number of power adders in anything, imports, domestics, bikes. The only requirement is that they meet the track's safety requirements.
Want to setup custom races for your club or group? No problem! We will have an organizer in the staging lanes ready to help you get paired up the way you want to. Have a larger group? That's not a problem either! Simply contact us using the email link below and we can customize a setup just for you, including seperate staging lanes!
Spring 2006 Competition Rules and Classes
Showdown and Modified/Street classes are considered competitive, carrying the highest payouts. FWD, RWD/AWD, and All Motor are for those who are less competitive and more interested in bragging rights. All classes do award trophies and cash payouts. Payouts are determined by the number of cars that are registered.
Please read and understand these rules, they are enforced. Ignorance of the rules is not acceptable. There are no refunds for disqualification! Please ask BEFORE qualifying if you have questions!
Competition rules apply ONLY to competitions. Test and Tune passes can be made with any configuration or setup, and any modification that meets track safety requirements.

Definitions
Power Adders are Turbo, Supercharger, or Nitrous (injected). The number of allowed power adders includes any factory power adders. Meth/Alcohol Injection and Intercooler sprayers are NOT considered power adders. Any Nitrous system that injects into the intake (not sprays externally) is considered a power adder. If you wish to enter a class where you would be otherwise not be allowed for using nitrous (too many power adders for example), you MUST remove the bottle completely from the vehicle.
DOT Approved Tires are defined as any tire that carries a manufacturers DOT approved tag, regardless of compound (radial or bias ply). Example: ET Streets
Radial Tires are defined as any radial compound tire. This can include aggressive tread patterns that are often referred to as 'drag radials'. These are allowed in all classes.
Rear Exit Exhausts are defined as piping that runs the full length of the vehicle and exits behind the rear wheels. There are no checks for mufflers or cats.
Interior Requirements are defined as the basic required interior pieces. Showdown only requires a factory dash, all other classes require front half of interior with both seats and carpet. Individual missing pieces are allowed, as long as there is no obvious stripping of these locations. Replacement or removal of factory pieces to accommodate gauges and electronics are also allowed.
