Hey Ken Thanks for the recomendation, and my name is Ryan by the way. lol well we had a lot of fun being able to design something from thin air and the Chalenges that the project brought to the table were excelent for learning to trouble shoot things that get in the way. I hope that we see that car on the cover of Braggin Rites Magazine again real soon. And Ken it was nothing to put up with you Im just glad you could put up with us lol. peace out.

it looks somewhat sketchy from the pictures, you didnt touch up paint that has been scratched off etc etc, you can see the wood in the cutouts on the side.

Not shabby, but its a 3g, so its ok!

those subs must need 0 airspace, that spare tire well is only like 1.3 or so cubic feet.
Or did you build up the false floor (doesnt appear) to make more airspace?

The paint thats scratched off I think that they are replacing those panels or repainting them. the wood you see will be taken care of tomorrow morning just another one of many things that has had to be touched up. the subs have their own boxes sitting ontop of the spare tire well. Each speaker has about .55 cubic feet of airspace and the specs call for .6 cubic feet. And the wheel well is probably around 3 or so cubic feet its actually pretty big and deep. Now Kens car (2000gt21) has the tire well fiberglassed in and he has three tens that sound really good.

My gts-t only had liek .7 space i had to build a box under the vert top firing forward to get a foot^3 of space. Horrible

we are going to repaint back panels as soon as we get it back. i went hunting saturday eve. and missed picking it up. but the back is definitely being resprayed. plus car goes to sprayglo monday for paint. gonna look good when finished.
here is a pic of car. we took the wing off and it now has black drag wheels and toyo tires. will be painted tangerine orange with black hood.

    A few questions:

Does your son not get made fun of wherever he goes in that car?

You make it sound like he pays for everything that is done to the car aswell as the purchase of the car too, if I remember one of your previous threads correctly. So what does someone who JUST turned 16 do to be able to afford these things. I mean, I know the things done to this car are not RETARDED expensive, but I remember when I was 16, I could barely afford my cigarettes.

If I had done to my car then what is done to it now, I would have killed myself. In due time your son will realize he is wasting his money and start doing some real modifying.

    Default work

like i said, he works and saves his money. plus he saves all his birthday and christmas money so he has accumalated alot over the years. we have a big family. but this is a father son project and there is no waste dtime or money when it comes to that.
plus if i wanted him to start out with something real fast, i had a 88 mustang gt drag car and a 95 gt street car but i sold them so i could keep him in something slower like a 97 eclipse with a stock 4 banger. not trying to be smart either or boast. this is what it is. a father son project funded mostly by him and a little by me. thanks for replies.

Honestly you guys stop worrying about how he is paying for this. A lot of peoples parents buy them cars at 16. Who cares how this is funded? If the kid payed for it great, if not it still does not matter.

I agree with that 100%, I bet most of you guys that are talking down on this guy for helping his son out wish that your parents would have helped you out when you were 16.

    Default thanks

thanks for all the replies. the thing is, he really is paying his way. i did the enclosure for his christmas. he is paying sprayglo for the paintjob. he is paying insurance and his gas expenses. i wish i could pay for it all, but i cant.
another thing, is it so hard these days to believe there are some good kids that work for stuff and parents that dont just hand it down?? i believe in making him work for something if he wants it. he is so dedicated to finishing his car right, he wont even drive it till it is complete. it is driveable now just needs paint but he is disciplined enough to work and wait till it is complete, and yes this makes me pretty dang proud of him!! not many kids out there like that these days, even if he is mine. how many 16 yr old boys with a car like this would let it sit in the shop until completely finished and not drive it?? not many!

I like that. I hope he keeps it on the downlow and then just one day comes out at his school with a tricked out car. It may not be what I would have built but then again it's not my car.
