Really depends, that kit lens is capable of taking some great photos but is limited in low light. To start out with and use it and learn it I would recommend it. I still have the kit lens in my bag.Originally Posted by Nemesis Digital

you also have to realize, im jsut taking automotive pictures. and very very few normal pictures......so ill keep my lens selection to that
I should have picked up a 20D but honestly the 350D can hang pretty good. I am working on saving up for the 30D unless I find a sweet deal on a 20D.Originally Posted by JDM Is Ghey

yall are killin me lol...i dont have the cash to throw around but i do ya know.....its so tempting
Really up to you but the 350D falls right inbetween the D50 and the 20D. If you are saying that all you are going to do is car pictures then the D50 would work fine and the 350D would give you a lil more room to play with other styles. The 20D is way more than you would ever need.Originally Posted by JDM Is Ghey
but if one day i want to move up, the ability will be there ya know??
I just hate having to buy something else a year or two down the road
? gotta read about that one
1600 bucks, your fucking crazy lol
i can buy two cars here for that lol
Honestly on a D-SLR you will wear the body out and be upgrading anyway if you use the camera often.Originally Posted by JDM Is Ghey
i highly doubt ill use it anywhere near as often as yall, its a hobby for me not a profession.

Straight from Dpreview f00l!
Both the EOS-1Ds Mark II iand D2X represent the ultimate in current digital SLR technology. The EOS-1Ds Mark II's problem however is its big price tag. In our review of the Nikon D2X we clearly demonstrated that it is more than a match for the EOS-1Ds despite a deficit of 4.4 megapixels. So if you're building an entire new system the D2X will be an attractive proposition.
Oh I thought you were still on the D200, lol
what is a good price on the D50, wolf camera is selling it for $549.99 with a not-so-great lense Quantaray 28-90mm F/3.3-5.6 Lens. Is that a good price? Also, Wolf usually sells D50 for the same price without the lense. So please shed some light.
Also how much was that rebel xt?
Depends on where you buy it and how you buy it. With a kit lens runs between $750-$900 depending on where you look, the body runs between $625-$800 depending on where you look.Originally Posted by shortysm22
i got lucky and foudn the rebel XT for 725 or 750 somethign liek that at the BX< im debating picing it up today...not sure thuogh
I got a cannon rebel Xt 8.0 for 700 bucks

I'm still want to go with Nikon, maybe D50 with Quantaray 28-90mm F/3.3-5.6 Lens, bascially it's a new body with a so-so lense. Regular priced at $549.99, current sale is still $549.99 with lense and 50 dollar coupone for next purchase at WolfCamera. I think this is the best deal I've found for a new body. If anyone have andy advice or found better deals, please let me know, thanks a lot.
i got the full kit for 700 from aafes
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/rebates/A0224010.pdf
also a 100 off so i only paid 600 for it
i ordered a 55-200 lens yesterday (canon)
and amn getting some other stuff today so yeah!
i am extremely happy with the camera and especially the price i got it for
they also have hte rebel kit here with teh 6.1 for liek 580 i think....or 640 somethign like that
I'm with you ^ :POriginally Posted by Nemesis Digital
This is almost exactaly what i did. I got the same lense and only paid $50 more at wolf camera... I was warned about buying a "body only" camera becuase it's "illegal" to sell them without a lense and if you are doing that you most likely will not get your warenty... My total after lense, camera and two 512 memory cards ($100 total) was about $700.Originally Posted by shortysm22
I LOVE my D50! Theres so many things you can do with it, it's going to be a while until i can use it to it's full potential... Good luck with your decision!
Oh also, when i bought mine, I got a TON of free tickets for photography classes at wolf camera. I didn't even know i got the free classes until after I bought it and was about to leave!! What a great surprise!
This must be a Nikon thing cause Canon sells just the body. It makes no sense to "force" you to buy a body with a lense when you might already have several lenses.Originally Posted by flipture

Thats what I was thinking but am not real familiar with Nikons.Originally Posted by Nemesis Digital
