    Default Recent trip to Miami

this was my first trip to Miami. i had a blast going on the trip and the weather was much better than what we were having in GA at the time.

I really tried to take a stab at street photography here (been stuck doing paid work so much that i haven't had much time to really get back to my original roots which was shooting for fun), i mounted my new sigma 50 1.4 and really tried to capture some interesting elements of Miami as i saw it.

many of these shots i wanted them to have an old school photo journalistic feel to them which is why they have an older appearance or are converted to B&W with slight light leaks added in. there really are some strange characters but it looks like if you are going to be homeless then Miami is one of the better cities to do setup camp with the warmer weather.

here are a few of my favorite images from the set and a link to the set over on flickr.

Nice shots, dude. I love Miami.

But why do you mention people being "desensitized?" Later, QD.

    thanks,

i mention desensitized just because its kind of hurtful to see a homeless person sleeping in the public somewhere and random people are so used to it and just walk on by not even thinking twice.

Yes i know its very common, and more than likely that homeless person put them selves in that shitty situation to begin with. I mean who knows their story? no one its just sad to see sometimes that's all.

no offense to anyone sorry about that.

thanks to everyone for the kind words! i definitely cant wait to go back, i swear i missed so much especially a skyline view of Miami from the bridge with the sun setting between the sky scrapers. i saw it so many times driving across the bridge but just couldn't stop to get a picture.

Miami looks so different in the eyes of a visitor. I haven't been back in a while, born and raised there. I need to visit my roots. It looks awesome actually. Lol

No offense taken, dude. But one could say you are one of these "desensitized" people, yes? Or did you lay a dollar or two at his feet while taking his picture? I'm messing with you, man. I don't really do much towards the homeless because I know most of them are there by their own actions and choices.

    How do I know?

I was one of them. For two years.

Keep taking pictures, though, dude. Photos like these tell stories and good for life. Later, QD.

actually i did lol. i left food next to 2 homeless people my fiance and myself saw (food from our take out left overs and candy from a candy bar from a wedding event we went to) it wasn't much but it was all we could give (no cash on hand and not sure what they wold do with cash and they were sleeping so another person might take the cash)

glad you were able to recover from an unfortunate time in your life and bounce back strong.

    thanks for the comments!

Great work and many of us are a paycheck or two away from being like some of those people. I've gotta try to make it back down there this summer, I usually stay in Cooper City,Fla about 50 min. north of Miami.
