Ehh, it's a decent camera. Personally, I'd just look for an SLR used locally. They really are a big step in the right direction if you really want to get busy with photography.
Go to Wolf Camera, and try some out, and find what you're comfortable with.

I have the Nikon L110. Bought it the first of this year and love it. Not too familiar with your model, but mine has pretty much all the features you need. The MACRO mode is really good for up close shots. Mine shoots HD (720p) video as well. All in all, I think it's a great starter camera. Especially for the price. Later, QD.
Edit....just looked up the L105 and seems to have the same features mine has.
Avoid the L105. No one seems happy with it, and Nikon does not post any specs on it.
The L105 seems to only be available through Target for $200, and is not on Nikon's site. I think that it was replaced by the L110, which I suspect has more changes internally than just video, as I have shot it, and it seems to do ok in daytime, just harder to shoot at night/low light.
If I was going to buy a Point and Shoot, the best bang for the buck is still the Canon S95, as you can get a refurbished one from Adorama for $260. It has a much faster lens.
