    Default Canon eos rebel t2i

Don't know much bout camera and not really enjoying the small digital camera anymore. I want something a bit nicer but nothing I have to spend an arm in leg for. So is this a decent camera just for a normal guy to take family pictures etc and mayb just experiment with. Price $800, a lot of good reviews..yes no maybe and y?? If not what I should look into? Thanks

I've had a T1i before. I really enjoyed it, but something I disliked was the grainy-ness of the images are higher ISO's . seemed like there were still unwanted grain at ~600~ . it's been a while since i owned it. so i next bought a nikon d90 and loved it, everything about it except video mode. however i never owned a t2i, but i can tell you this, at 1600 iso on the d90, it would be "acceptable" meaning it looks still extremely nice still being at 1600. so i'm just saying i liked my d90 that i don't have anymore. hahaa

I love my XSi, but yes the T2i is ideal for what you're looking for other than being capable to take great photos but also video

I played with the t2i for a short while. But I currently own a t1i and i enjoy it. i take great photos with it. Get awesome family portraits and outings as i take it. I knew little about photography when i bought it. But its something you learn as you go when taking pictures since its a dslr you can delete the pictures if it doesnt suite the style your trying to shot. end result the t2i is a updated version of the t1i.

for 300 more you get a 60D which is a much cooler camera... same processor and focusing system as the t2i but a better shutter, higher FPS, bigger camera body, better view finder, articulating screen, finer ISO handling, optical slave (with compatible strobes), and a better kit lens. have I left off anything...oh and a camera settings screen by the shutter button.

I have one and love it... but rebels take great photos too (just without all the sexy badass features). The 60D is something different from the 50D and feels like something between the 7D and a T2i. The 50D is definitely more rugged than a 60D. I'm one of those strange people that like using SD instead of CF so going with a 50D or a 7D or a 5DmkII was out of the question... then there is the 1dmk3... but I don't have 5k to blow... and there will be a better version out soon.

If you just want to take photos, you can get a 50d new for around 700-800. That's what I'd go with, but I am biased because I have one. I would stay away from rebels.

yup there are some really great deals out there for 50Ds, and photographers are still choosing the 50D over the 60D for the give and take of the two... cannot go wrong with a 50D!
