I am sorry if you can't take criticism, but that is not what this thread is about. This thread is more about the fact that the teachers at my school critique a photo until it is dissected to a point of no return. I think I am tainted by this. I have gone through some old threads and realize that maybe it wasn't the right way of approaching it. People want constructive criticism, and thats fine by me, but without regular criticism in general, I really don't think people learn from anything. When I post something -rare, I know- I want people to tear it apart so that I learn from my mistakes and I honestly take it in so that I know what people want to see. Art and photography and paintings and everything is totally SUBJECTIVE. This means when someone likes something and says "yo dawg sweet pics +reps" yeah they may like it but someone else may not. You have to take it with a grain of salt. That is what critique is all about. When people as for C&C, you have to dig in and tear it apart until you get to the bottom of it - otherwise nobody learns shit.
I really hate to read old threads where people hate to see what I write, or others write. It is YOUR work. Take pride in that. That is all you CAN do. I read some old threads of Hotshot and Kamikaze where I didn't care for the work. That is where the subjective form comes in. Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean that you don't or do like it. Please accept this. This past weekend I met both Hotshot and Kamikaze for the first time. They are some really nice people. REALLY nice people. We had a good time shooting, and I hope we can do it again sometime. So I hope I and anyone else that has critiqued an image has come across as a positive force and not a negative one.
