Default Getting first L series lens sometimes in the next few weeks

and I am excited. The staple "first L". The 70-200 F/4 L. I was just wondering what it was like for those of you other DSLR users. What was it like to get your first L series lens (for Canon) or .... I think it's Gold series for Nikon/Nikkor. Both of my current lenses date code back to 1987 and I paid less than $80 for each of them so a brand new L series w/ hood and pouch should be quite fun. I'm quite interested to feel the luxury of smoothly dempened rings, instant and quiet USM focus motors with full time manual. I already know it won't make my photos better, as it lies all on me, the photographer, but I think it will make a powerful tool for me to learn with. Sorry if this thread seems random, but I am just excited. so share your first "expensive" lens stories.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

70-200 2.8. Every time I use my camera it stuns me by its ability to be used in almost ANY situation. I heart my L.

First L lens was the 16-35 F2.8 L. Followed up 6 months later with the 24-70 F2.8 L and the 70-200 F2.8 L IS. I loved the lenses when I had them on my 30D but now that I have the 5D I love them even more. lol

Wow, Amazon first told me that the estimated arrival date was January 15-22... then today I get an email saying "Status:-in transit. estimated delivery date: January 9th"

    I can't wait. That's sooo soon. I'm off work after 2:00 that day .

I'll post pics OF then lens, and pics taken WITH the lens. After 2 years of shooting with a mid level zoom from the late 1980s that occasionally jams when going from 28-70 around 50mm, and a focus ring so rough and hard ot turn it's practically useless. This will make taking photos a LOT easier.
